Audio is missing left channel stereo sound

When trying to download an Audio control device, it will not install properly. I have an MSI G41TM-E43 Motherboard; Intel Duo Core CPU E7500 processor. Running Windows 7 Home Premium OS. I should have RealTek (VEN_10EC) audio device drivers installed however, they came up missing for some reason. I tried windows update but to no avail. I've tried installing them direct from the realtek website, also no go... What do I do? I also have a pair of M-Audio studio speakers that are "Pre-Amped" an have been using an adapter accommodating two 1/4" jacks(right and left channels) down to a single pin jack to plug into the green colored output hole one the back of my computer. Which is supposed to handle both channels for stereo sound played on my computer. How do I first get these audio drivers to download and install properly so that they are recognized by my OS, and how can I configure the system to give me both channels so that stereo sound is correctly reproduced for listening?
- Thanks for your help, it is greatly appreciated! - E.J.:)
