Mom has been getting blue screens of death for about 10 days now. At first, it appeared to only be happening during an active scan by AVG. But now I know it to be happening at other times as well.

Trying to troubleshoot this from afar is difficult. I had her clean out the minidump folder as I thought maybe somehow it was also causing the problem, one way or another. As such, I have only one dump file for anyone to look at (at the moment). This is running on a system with XP and the only recent updates in terms of software would be a new version of firefox and AVG updates.

Attached is the dump file. Please let me know if you can analyze it to determine a cause.

Bug check 0x50 usually occurs after the installation of faulty hardware or in the event of failure of installed hardware (usually related to defective RAM, be it main memory, L2 RAM cache, or video RAM).

Another common cause is the installation of a faulty system service.

Antivirus software can also trigger this error, as can a corrupted NTFS volume.

You may run memtest for atleast 10+ passes to see whether its RAMs fault.
