Man that would be a gamers dream to have a game like that. :)
I could spend allot of time playing a game like that. Oh wait I already spend allot of time playing games... lol.

i think if they can program the PS3 to have the 4th dimension, the concept of change, they can certainly make a game that incorporates the simplistic ideas that i've come up with.

crysis took a few steps in that direction, as did a few other games, but nothing ever went the extra mile. it'd be nice if infinity ward or some other company made a game that had these ideas. hell..2kgames could do it. if they could do something as amazing as bioshock, this should be no problem.

Ya. I have seen some pics of bioshock and everybody says its an amazing game... to me it look well... kinda creepyish. lol
To weird for me I think.
but seriously there are some great game makers out there and have plenty of people working for them, they should be able to easily come up with a game like that. Take a few years if they have to but someone has got to do it eventually.

it'd be in their best interests. it'd win tons of awards. it'd be a game of the year if it was made as well as the call of duty games with those added ideas of mine. they would make a crapload of money. and we hardcore gamers would have a tough game to beat :D

I think game designers are currently working on mastering the concept of true multi-threaded programming right now. (at least according to an on-line friend, taking Com Sci and specializing in gaming programming).

Multi-threading enables several "decisions" to me processed at the same time. but this leads to race conditions, where a particular out come beats an equally probable out come, just b/c it's trip through the land of CPU processing came out first. So they are working on gating or timing these multi-threads and this is where, stream-lining this extra over head is turning out to be very difficult.

The point is all the things you are talking about, w.r.t to multiple endings or character actions controlling how the game plays out, can easily be programmed once they can perfect multi-threaded programming.

If someone is going to pull this off I think that UBISOFT will do it IMO. Their Splinter Cell series has the concept idea. IW could also do it, but it does boil down to programming. Each Variable should produce a certain outcome.

For instance. In a War-environment game, Either you can use stealth or just start killing off Tangos @ random. Now the decision the player makes should determine the strategy the AI makes and should indefinitely effect the outcome of the game. Much like in real life, say Bush desides to Nuke IRAQ, which wont happen b-cuz OIL, but making a critical decision during the game or even during a simple misson should have a variable like effect on the outcome. Sorry for gettin Political

The next Console system will come out in about 4-5 more years and will feature less moving parts, like a sort of Flash memory to replace the HDD's. The less the moving parts the better right? Also I think as we discuss this topic it really pertains to Computers more than any console.

hm...y'know...something tells me that, if kirock is right and that they're working on it right now, none of this is really anything they didn't know.

i think you're half right with what it boils down to. it does involve some serious programming. but it also involves what i suggested earlier. the time of release is extremely important. as i said they all want to release games in a timely fashion which would guarantee part of the marketshare going into their pockets.

if companies were less worried about getting it out on the shelves as soon as possible, and spent a little more time with development and perfected it, then the rewards they would reap would outweigh the delay in its release.

Very true. They must make deadlines because GTA4, MGS4 and SOCOM were all due to come out in oct-nov but they continually been pushing things back. March, Sept-Dec are the main months in which they target of course the holidays because people are bound to spend.

So timing is critical but it helps us Gamers budget life easier so the marketplace is not that bad. The proraming teams of developers should have a summit like so big names can do a co-op type thing. IDK if it would be worth it but for sure the more the merrier.

Endwar seems to be an awesome game, well it has my hopes high!

with the way things have been going for me, i've learned not to get my hopes up for anything...

i've gotten nothing but disappointment so far.

i know it sounds emo, but it's true. nothing has gone right yet.

i just simply don't understand why a company like IW or any other company doesn't spend a little more time and money with development. they have the money. they can do it and it wouldn't hurt them at all. in fact, it might earn them more respect and loyalty from their customers which in turn might bring in more profit later.

they could certainly stand to get it right and do it just about without penalty....

By no means am I saying the game can't be fun or that a person shouldn't buy it, but considering how people were saying it was "the best game ever" and "better than crysis" I had expectations that weren't met. I think it was worth the $30 I paid for it. I'll repeat what I said before, it's an "average" game. Not really better than other games I've played, but also not really worse than others.

As a side note, the dog attack aspect is a cool new idea for a fps game...even if it does make it a bit harder.
Where did you get it for $30?
As for your OP, I think that CoD4 appeals to a different audience than Crysis. I personally prefer heavily scripted games because they are more memorable and are more enjoyable to play over. Crysis is all about a sandbox type gameplay where devs created a map developing kid and randomly placed many bases on an island. It appeals to people who enjoy spontaneity and many choices in games. I personally find it to be dull and repetitive.

Lol damnn that game is crazy awesome i juz beat it :D

Love the end and yall tell me there is more then one ending???

Comee to find out there shd b another COD coming ot this year hopefully due to the news on gamespot and on this site oo man i cant wait. One of the best FPS i have played!!!

I agree with much that has been said here. To those who played it on 360, did anyone else notice the horribly done pieces of paper early on in the game floating in the streets and just dissapearing as they hit buildings? They honestly had like three frames for their animation and looked like something out of sega genesis. It's not a big deal but when they were so noticeably bad it was distracting...

The Multiplayer is alot better, I agree that the Single Player was kind of lacking ( The only level I personally loved to play was the "All Gillied Up" mission when you're a sniper in Pripyat, Ukraine :) )

That's how Call of Duty is. It's scripted. Are you supposed to enter a warzone with all the enemies already there, and then they all run around trying to flank you? No, they're going to stay behind cover. And the automatic machine guns? The video clearly showed it was not a bug, they were entirely meant to be unmanned because the developers didn't bother programming someone to be using them. They aren't supposed to be killable.

Yea on PS3 i dont think i seen these auto machine guns

The sniper mission i must agree is the best mission in the game. I like the ending as well! The multiplayer is what i think makes the game great. The ranking system hopefully will be tweaked when they release the new maps, which is hopefully soon because soon i will be going on 20 Kill streak rampages :D

I'm not finished yet (just got the game last night), I kinda liked the AC130 gunship mission just for kicks, although seperating friendlies from foe was a little difficult at times.

The auto mg's, we talked about? Well , ya it's clear they (programmers) just wanted the impression of withering fire (unstoppable, for w/e reasons...endless supply of replacement gunners?)..so why bother programming them, with all the extra code required.

I think I'm one mission pass the nuke episode..how many missions left?

Yea i think u got like 3-5 missions left mayb more check ign.com strategy guide. Yea the C130 mission is deff one of my favs but i had to play it over a few times due to the thing u mentioned. The second to last mission is the sniper mission...one of the BEST if not the BEST mission in the game. What console did u buy it 4???

PC. I'm running it on my now 2.4 y.o. socket 939 3500+ with 1Gb OZC Premium DDR400 and a 7800GT 512Mb. My res is at 1280x1024 but with most other settings at low or medium on a few. Runnings pretty good and that's without any hardcore config tweaks yet, which I plan to do tonight. (need those for mplayer anyways).

How are things in mp land? Are there still severs running this?

Lol mp u mean multi-player???

They are damn fun the only reason why i play the game still. I just beat it recently cuzz of all the talk about it and wanted 2 c wat the end was like. But yea the servers suck sometimes cuz they close suddenly during b4 and after a match begins but its worth it to keep trying...i went on a 15 kill streak which is my best so far and i just started playin again recently...cant wait for the new maps and tweaks

Are there still servers running it? Why would you even ask that? It's one of the biggest multiplayer releases in a while and you think people would already have stopped playing it?

I've heard of Xbox Live problems and how it's going to need an update, but I haven't heard of any problems for PC.

Wow, that unmanned auto video just made me not EVER want to buy that game over any other one...

What console is that game for?

Snack i think u misunderstood me!!!

I play COD4 on my PS3 and the game servers are not the greatest but regardless ppl are always on playing. I doubt regardless of the play quality ppl will always be online playing!

MGS4 is coming out in June and it seems they might have an online community so that has the potential to effect the COD4 gamers.

I don't think MGS4 will have online play, and if it does, I doubt it will be enough to permanently draw away too many players.
