Calling with gmail?

I used to be able to use Firefox to make free calls in gmail but now it tells me I have to download the plug in which I've done but it still won't work unless I use google chrome. The call feature shows in Firefox,just can't call. Anybody know why???

You can easily make calls directly from an email you send or receive.

1. When you open an email with a phone number in the text, the number will be blue.
2. Click the phone number in the email.
3. In the dial pad that appears, click Call.

In Google chrome, I simply click the icon in the left pane & the box pops up in the lower right corner, I nter the number ,click call & it works.
