Solved Cannot access downloads folder. Hangs PC

Hi all. My main computer ran into a lot of issues today shortly after downloading a file. I downloaded a PDF file earlier and noticed a while later that now every time I try to open the Windows Downloads folder that it downloaded to it hangs my PC. I have tried opening the folder to shift+delete it or just straight delete it but it freezes before I can. I have Norton AV and used it to scan the downloads folder and it found no virus.

It seems if I leave the downloads folder alone the PC seems to work ok.

Can anyone help me fix this please? I've even tried going in under safe mode but cannot delete this file.

Windows 7 pc 64 bit
Intel Core 2 quad core @ 2.4 GHZ
4 GB RAM
 
I did indeed do a system restore to the 28th. but when I try to access the downloads folder it still hangs the system.

  • Double-click SystemLook.exe to run it.
  • Vista users:: Right click on SystemLook.exe, click Run As Administrator
  • Copy the content of the following box and paste it into the main textfield:

  • Click the Look button to start the scan.
  • When finished, a notepad window will open with the results of the scan. Please post this log in your next reply.
Note: The log can also be found on your Desktop entitled SystemLook.txt

OK. There is a space in that folder name.

Found the culprit in this line: Star Wars - Edge of the Empire.pdf--a---- 1139801166 bytes[22:19 22/07/2013][22:24 22/07/2013]

I was trying to download a copy of a free rpg day adventure they released.
 
Star Wars - Edge of the Empire.pdf
Please double check if if the spelling and spacing is correct.
 
Download BlitzBlank and save it to your desktop.
Double click on Blitzblank.exe

  • Click OK at the warning.
  • Click the Script tab and copy/paste the following text there:

DeleteFile: 
"C:\Users\Jonathan Baldridge\Downloads\Star Wars - Edge of the Empire.pdf"
  • Click Execute Now. Your computer will need to reboot in order to replace the files.
  • When done, post the report created by Blitzblank.
    You can find it in the root of the drive, normally C:\
