Something to look forward to: Marvel Studios revealed a gripping new trailer for its upcoming 'Captain America: Brave New World' at the D23 Brazil fan event this weekend. Stars Anthony Mackie and Danny Ramirez were present to hype up the crowd before premiering the fresh footage from the Phase Five film.

The trailer opens on a somber note, with Sam Wilson/Captain America (Mackie) visiting Isaiah Bradley (Carl Lumbly) in prison. Though Bradley can't recall the details, we see he was involved in an assassination attempt on the newly elected US President Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross, played by Harrison Ford in his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut.

As Wilson investigates the conspiracy, Bradley asks Cap to be careful. We learn there were five coordinated shooters behind the attack on Ross. While determined to uncover the truth, the mystery only deepens for Wilson. At one point, he receives an ominous call questioning, "Do you ever wonder who's playing who?"

Stakes escalate when Wilson appears framed, setting up an epic clash against the fully transformed Red Hulk, Ross's powerful alter ego that was teased in the initial trailer in July. The clip concludes with the two squaring off.

Brave New World isn't just Mackie's first solo Captain America adventure after inheriting the mantle from Chris Evans' Steve Rogers in 'Avengers: Endgame.' It's also a continuation of storylines from 2008's 'The Incredible Hulk,' making it a canonical entry years in the making.

Helmed by Julius Onah with a script from Malcolm Spellman, Dalan Musson, and Matthew Orton, the movie boasts an impressive ensemble. Joining Mackie, Ford, Lumbly, and returning Liv Tyler as Betty Ross are Danny Ramirez as the new Falcon, Giancarlo Esposito as Sidewinder, and Tim Blake Nelson as The Leader.

Mackie's initial turn as Cap in 2021's 'The Falcon and the Winter Soldier' earned praise from fans and critics. The series netted five Emmy nods and established Wilson as a formidable new protector of the Marvel universe.

Now, with a nefarious plot brewing and global catastrophe looming, it's up to Wilson to live up to that legacy. 'Captain America: Brave New World' hits theaters on February 14, 2025.

-Wild that 10 years ago Obama was president and this felt like a completely different country...

In what way?

10 years ago I woke up and went to work. I had friends I hung out with. I spent time raising my wife and raising my kids. I didn’t vote for the sitting president of the time, but as a warm blooded American I accepted the times and continued on.

Today, I woke up and went to work. I have friends I will be hanging out with. I’ll also spend time with my wife and children, who are a bit older now. I didn’t vote for the sitting president of our time, but as a warm blooded American I accept the times and continue on with my day.

I don’t understand the doom and gloom people have attached to presidents. 2016-2020 did not implode the country. Likewise, 2008-2016 did not implode the country. Neither did 2000-2008. Funny enough, 2020 to 2024 didn’t either.

Things changed a bit. There was some policies implemented. Some good, some bad. I agreed with some, disagrees with others. Along the way the chorus of loud but small amount of folks on either side shouted doom and gloom that never game to fruition. Such will be the next 4 years and the following presidency.

Personally, in my own opinion, people are to hyperbolic over such matters. It gets heated and good people come to a complete stop in logical thinking. It can never be one side or the other. We need checks and balances, it just in the 3 branches but in voter bases.

Anyways, just my thoughts in a sea of opinions.

- Felt like we were on the upswing. Felt like there was a steady path toward progress. It's more than a President, ever since 2020 there is a malaise in the air. It feels like we all got a look behind the curtain and saw that no one was there. Whole thing is a made up charade, kind of like how kids think their parent's are these big responsible people and then you grow up, have kids, and realize your parent's were just winging it all along.

Nativist sentiment is on the rise. There is a lot of uncertainty in the air. People are hungry for radical change because they're so disconnected from the system that they feel any change even if it is detrimental to society is better than staying where they are at.

It's all born from a feeling that the future is always worse, the arrow of progress is leaving a lot of people behind, everything is enshitified.

Your entire post goes from blissfully lackadaisical and a bit naive, to completely out of touch with reality.
The reason, "nothing changed much" during trimp's first term, is because is because was busy playing golf. instead of running the country into the ground. He didn't accomplish any of his campaign promises, (thank god),, save for one, which was, giving huge tax breaks to billionaires, and running up an 8 trillion dollars federal deficit in the process. (The largest of any president in history).

The problem with this cycle is, the trimpster will be a mere figurehead, while Elon Musk will' be tacitly, POTUS. He'll be reshaping the US economy, "in his own image", which is that of the diverting the maximum amount of your tax dollars to his own bank accounts.

Climate protocols will be eliminated. But, if you truly want a fascist regime, why not move to Florida? It might be, "a bit rainy there", but who cares? I certainly don't.

As for the new, "African American" Captain America, it's about time Marvel stopped casting him as the "token black", and gave him something to do.

As for the title, "Brave New World", that's an out and out profanity, taking Huxley's classic book of the same name, and turning it into a comic book .

Pink's Floyd's classic line from, "The Wall", has come to fruition, "worms ate into my brain", with the possible appointment of RFK Jr. as head of HHS. A looney-tune with brain worms, who's Anti-vax, anti mask, anti any qualifications for the job whatsoever, is what you'll be getting in charge of US healthcare..

Not to sound dismissive of your point in any way; we've all felt this way for decades. Each Presidential cycle, folks on either side chant "change". And it does, better or worse. And the next person comes in and upheavals things to their vision. That vision is shaped as generations come and go. I'm personally unfazed at this point in life as it sounds like your have experienced your first "Ennui" moment. Do what you can for others; treat others like you want to be treated; love your neighbor; live a good life. What the "Gov" does we cannot actually change. Clearly you want to do good and you can :)

We're all doomed, I tell ya. DOOMED lol. I support you, but I don't share your gloom outlook. And the terms 'racist' and 'fascist' are now defunct from their overprescription and incorrect application. The Orange Boogieman didn't collapse society his first term. He won't his second term. Just as Obama didn't collapse our system with Obamacare or racism and Joe Biden didn't gobble up all the kids. All did some good, all did some bad. You might put more value in your own personal opinions over things that Obama/Biden did over Trump, but none destroyed America (as either side of the isle shouted they would).

This term, he has Tulsi, Elon, RFK and a few other dejected Democrats that joined his team. Last I checked, they were all still Democrat in their narratives and stature save for a few ideas the Progressive left would like implemented. Just as I stated in my first post here, some are good ideas, some are bad ideas from this new term coming up. But one thing will be certain: Life will still exist in 2028, we'll still be a country and we will still be here. Very little will have changed.

(An Inconvenient truth: Trump is still a liberal. Why the right thinks he's a savior of said right is beyond me. At best, he would be a centrist; worst left of center. A term best to describe him would be 'patriotically centered', voting more towards policies democrats of the last 90's voted for instead of the right at the time, which would be better called 'religiously right of center' with religious fueled votes. I know. I was there and watching it all unfold in real time. Clinton won twice against that rhetoric Bush Jr had to change it up. Heck, the right of today is basically the left of 30 years ago.)

As for Florida, I dunno. Mrs. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez vacationed there without a mask during the Pandemic while she screamed that everyone else around her wear masks. Gavin did the same. In fact, most ruling class did this. The only thing I truly detest is hypocrites. Florida seemed to do just fine and appeared to thrive against a more liberal state like California.

Personally, I care neither right or left. No party matters to me. They are all wrong for the common people and will continue to be. I follow Christ and that's it.

Marvel writers had a job. They needed to logically lead Mackie toward becoming a new cap.
I liked how they released Steve. The man goes back in time to spend his life with the woman destining separated him from earlier. But that is where their good stuff ended. They had to make a better story regarding how Mackie becomes the cap. Repairing his boat and being unable to take a loan because he is black were not good elements of writing. Furthermore, being sympathetic toward a terrorist made him a good person to a radical leftist, but most people who I heard mention that moment disliked it.

And I could bet, a lot of money, they followed the same path with the first script for this movie. Then they rewrote it, and again, and again.

For a good movie, they literally had to forget he is black. They needed to forget racial topics. They needed to stay away from political issues if they relate to your country's politics.

I doubt they could. And soon we will know.

Question, should Aileen Cannon get appointed to the supreme court, would that be enough to get you to change your tune?

The big difference this time, is that a doddering old fool, (you know the one Kamala Harris tore a new a**hole in their debate), isn't going to be anything other than a figurehead.
Elon Musk is the de facto POTUS..

The only thing that will save this country from three madmen, is the fact the they didn't flip enough seats in congress to get a super majority vote on anything, including trimp's desire to, "suspend the Constitution".

Who thinks Marvel is tearing a page out of Disney's playbook, by alterinate race casting of Captain America, for a bigger potential audience share?

@mailpup There you go

He doesnt have any powers tho?

hows he gonna fight a hulk?

also, whys that hulk red?
Relax, some Marvel scientist will probably concoct some chemical that "Captain America", sprays on him to turn him back to normal.

Or, maybe they'll let the Hulk kill the black guy off, and start writing a sequel to allow for a Latino "Captain America". They better do it quick though, or they'll have to film it in Mexico.
