IMO it's great to have bug fixes quickly. I think you will probably get mad with rolling-release linux distros xD

Lucky for us, there is Windows and Nvidia.
Lucky for us at least ATI provides competition bringing competative pricing along with it.

As far as keeping costs down, I have a 5850 sitting on the shelf because crossfire simply lacks the stability in Windows 7 to keep it installed. Not what I would call economical all things considered.

Crossfire works great in Windows 7. I would suggest a PEBKAC error.
