Google has updated Chrome for iOS to version 40, bringing in a redesigned UI, support for OS X Handoff, as well as optimizations for iOS 8 and the large-screen iPhone 6 and 6 Plus.
The updated browser app now sports the new Material Design aesthetic that Google introduced in Android 5.0, bringing bold graphics, fluid motion, and tactile surfaces. The company's other iOS offerings like the Search app and the Maps app have already been updated with Material Design, so the new Chrome UI may already be familiar to you.
Moving on, the search giant has also implemented support for Handoff, a feature that allows you to launch an app on one device (say, your iPhone or iPad), and then hand it off to another device (your Mac).
This means that you can transfer Chrome tabs on your iOS device to whatever your default browser is on OS X. Unfortunately, this doesn't work the same way vice-versa -- Chrome on Mac can Handoff only to Chrome on iOS.
Finally, Chrome for iOS will now look much better on the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, as the mobile browser now has native layouts for the devices. Aside from these big changes, the update also brings stability improvements and bug fixes. The new Chrome for iOS is available for download from the App Store.
