Clevo laptop no power

I was recently given a Clevo P170ESM laptop for repair which was badly broken around the lid hinge area, infact the only thing holding the screen on were the cables themselves, having said that it did turn on and boot into windows. Repairing the hinges was not possible because of the damage. My customer bought a replacement lid and the bottom cover so I could transfer everything across from the broken case to the newer case. All seemed to go as expected except when I came to turn it on there was no power, when the power cord is connected the mains and battery light come on but that's it. I checked all of the internal connections and re-seated a couple that may have not been fully in, but still no power when hitting the on button. Having spent what seems to have been a stupid amount of time on it I am a little frustrated to say the least.
Have you guys any suggestions as to what the problem may be?

1. It worked before just fine?
2. Have you tried closing it all? sometimes that's mandatory (Acer do that, probably for safety)
3. It does nothing?
4. Tried clearing the bios?
