Computer Freezing on Startup - can’t see desktop

This is my first post and I know just enough to get me in trouble.
My McAfee Security stopped updating so I decided to uninstall and reinstall to see if it would solve the problem. I unistalled MacAfee and since then, when ever I start up the computer, it freezes. I can't see the toolbar at the bottom of the screen or any of my desktop short cuts. When "ctrl+alt+delete" is gives me this message, ”The file or directory \windows\prefetch\taskmgr.exe-06144c13.pfs is corrupt and unreadable. Please run the chkdsk utility." I try to run the chkdsk and it won’t let me. I can run software by clicking on New Task, in the Window Task Manager, but when i try to reinstall Mcafee Security it gives me a message to restart the computer before I install. I restart my computer and start the whole cycle again. I’ve even tried installing in safemode, (which lets me see my desktop) but it still asks me to restart the computer. I have run Hijackthis and the report is below. Does anyone see anything out of the ordinary? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

Are you running Chkdsk /f ?

I think I might have figured it out after searching this forum. I found an anti-malware program at Cnet and ran that in safe mode. Wow! 22 instances of malware, spyware and the like. I have to check the computer when I get home from work. I was able to reinstall Mcaffee after I ran the anti-malware program. It is still giving me the chkdsk error thought. How do I go about running the chkdsk. Thanks for the reply.

You might want to start some Gurgle searches... there is good informaiton under Chkdsk, Chkdsk Switches, Chkdisk options, Chkdisk parameters, Chkdsk /f, Chkdsk /r, Chkdsk /p...
Lots of good "how to" stuff for you to consider and for experimentation... concise and easier than anything we can tell you here. There are actually hundreds of pages on using and evaluating Chkdsk.
