Windows has a habit of updating your drivers when it's unnecessary. Although intended to assist you in getting a driver, the wrong default can regress your system.

Device driver install can be controlled

1. Open the Control Panel (icons view), and click/tap on the Devices and Printers icon.

2. Under Devices, right-click or press and hold on your PC icon >>computer name<<,
scroll and click on Device installation settings

3. Select ( ) Yes use MS Update Automatically or
( ) NO

Let Me Choose

( ) Use Windows Update if not found on my computer

4. SAVE (and allow UAC prompt)

When a new device is discovered at boot time, this choice will take effect.
