Hi all,

My laptop just has an HDMI out but I don't have a hi-def tv (sob.)

Is there such thing as an HDMI to Scart (or S-Video) convertor?

I'm in the UK so my TV is PAL (if that matters.)

Cheers

I doubt you can do this, but its a hell of a lot cheaper to try than fastco's links.

HDMI->DVI->VGA->SCART + run a seperate audio line.

Thanks for the replies.

Excuse my ignorance, but are there any other options I should think off. Any USB out type solutions or any Laptop cards appropriate.

Yje laptop basically has HDMI and VGA out but my TV has Scart , S-video and Component in.
This is my first laptop so I'm not to clued up with how flexible they are.

Apparently if your laptop supports TV out through VGA then you can use a cheap adapter like this: http://www.overstock.com/Electronics/VGA-to-S-Video-RCA-Adaptor/3003280/product.html

I wouldn't even consider using HDMI if VGA is an option for going to an analog input. HDMI is digital, so unless you are going to another digital device it doesn't do you much good and requires another converter. Since VGA is already analog that is where you should start.
