Why it matters: Gaming hardware and accessory maker Corsair Gaming is going public. The company recently filed the necessary paperwork with the US Securities and Exchange Commission for an initial public offering (IPO) with a target price of $100 million. Corsair aims to trade on the Nasdaq under the ticker symbol “CRSR.”

Corsair said that since 1998, they have shipped more than 190 million gaming products, with 85 million shipments having occurred just in the past five years. The company largely established itself during the 2000s as a major supplier of PC gaming hardware and accessories, going head to head with other well-known brands of the era such as OCZ Technology.

In 2019, the company raked in an impressive $1.09 billion in net revenue. Per The NPD Group, Corsair’s US market share sits at nearly 42 percent with it leading the way in terms of US market share in the categories of computer cases, high-performance memory, power supplies and cooling solutions.

Today, Corsair sells its products to consumers in over 75 countries worldwide, both online and at brick-and-mortar retailers. Collectively, their products have garnered more than 4,000 product awards from websites and magazines.

Corsair has also jumped into some new markets as of late thanks to acquisitions of livestreaming specialist Elgato Gaming and boutique computer builder Origin PC.

When I first bought a Corsair product, the attention to detail and their phenomenal customer service made me look into if they had a public stock, cause it's a solid company. Unfortunately it was private at the time, now that it's going public I'll be buying shares on day one. :)

Just a suggestion. First day/week IPO's tend to sell at inflated prices .... I've bought a few and learned over time that the best time is usually after the first week. First day'ers tend to rise very high, the fall badly and can take months to recover to that first day price .... hope it's helpful to you.

Unfortunately, most companies once they do this, become wards of the stockholders and the board. Then the only thing the company concerns itself about is the STOCK price. Shaving this and that to keep the price up. Hope it doesn't happen.

Yup never take your company public if you can help it.

This maybe the start of the end for corsair, will have to see if product quality starts slipping in a few years to keep those margins high for the shareholders.

Corsair products havent been known to be great so not sure why ppl think Crosair product wont begin to slip. It slipped yrs ago.
From buggy software (iCue) to failing memory, they have had it all. Now thats not to say there a bad company or anything but they werent at the top when it came to quailty.

I would not invest in Corsair unless the restructure the service team. Service is everything and is what they were famous for, you pay a premium for the service, without it they are just another company. The call service is all offshore. It is with a heavy heart I share this.

I purchased a iCUE H115i RGB PRO XT 280. I sent in the info for the build I was using it in with all the model numbers. I received the wrong info back The expert said a push pull fan would not work cause the LED fans pull to much power. The unit has no LED fans the 2 extra fans were the same model. and it is powered from SATA connecter. So I did the install WOW it came with the wrong parts, and the screws were to big it took all the effort I could give to get 8 of the screws in. 8 striped completely. So it came with 16 enough for a push pull set up. Crazy right. Then overnight 1 of the standoffs that connect the waterpump to the motherboard broke off and fell. OK np right so I call them and talk the the 1 guy that I trusted there. I was sent replacement parts and used them. They were different standoffs. So I told my guy and he confirmed they sent me the wrong parts. My computer shuts off with any load now. then sent me more parts. I somehow upset set the person I was dealing with, as this was 7 weeks into the problem.

To the person I was dealing with thank you for helping me as I am disabled and dyslexic he was helping me on the phone (The kind of person you want in management).I got transferred to a Guy named Eric, who changed his title 2 times and told me not to contact them again. So what do I do with the 4k of Corsair items I have personally in my house and shop. I was a Corsair fan boy till that moment. My service from corsair up till this point was Awesome. Thank you Eric for helping me see the new direction that corsair is going. The guy I was dealing with before Eric was Awesome.

Do Not buy Corsair, That ship has sailed (pun intended). No Service Now. So I have a 8086K that shuts down now. Note I thank everyone that had helped me up to this point at Corsair. I hope this guy doesn't represent Corsair. He would not get me in contact with anyone other than him.

This is a sad day. The stock might or might not do well, but in my experience companies go downhill for their original customers when they do this.

I've had no issue with my corsair products which are:

Corsair MP600 1TB Pcie 4.0 drive
Corsair H150i Pro AIO
Corsair Dark Core mouse
Corsair Void Pro headset
Corsair AX850 PSU

And there is obviously more to this story when a company tells you not to contact them again!

Do you work there?

Just with 4 items from them you seemed to jump to a conclusion. I have 4 pcs in house and 2 at the shop all have Corsair items. All work great it seems to be the gaming items that have issues. Memory PSU Case all great, with the exception of a part missing here and there. My issues have been with Mice Keyboards and this last watercooler. BTW all the systems have Corsair Memory 16 to 64 gig, PSU ASX 750 to 1200 versions, Cases from Obsidian Series 500D RGB SE to Graphite Series 230T. So yea I always used Corsair, till now.
