Couple Of annoying Problems

Been Awhile

Right I have done all of the above, I still get attacked by totour.exe, but it's not actually on the computer, it just says thats where its trying to go but gets detected and deleted.

Internet Explorer still does not want to work either...

Download the Pocket Killbox programme from HERE. Extract it but don`t run it yet.

You might want to copy and paste these instructions into a notepad file. Then you can have the file open in safe mode, so you can follow the instructions easier.

Boot into safe mode, under your normal user name(NOT THE ADMINISTRATOR ACCOUNT). See how HERE.

In Windows Explorer, turn on "Show all files and folders, including hidden and system". See how HERE.

Run the killbox.exe file. When it loads type the full path to the file you would like to delete in the field and check the delete file on reboot button. press the Delete File button (looks like a red circle with a white X). It will prompt you to reboot, select no until you have finished inputting the files you want to delete, only then allow it to reboot and hopefully your files will now be deleted. If your computer doesn`t automatically restart, restart it manually.

These are the filepaths you need to enter into killbox.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\totour.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\msvcrl.dll

Once your system has rebooted, rehide your protected OS files.

Let me know if you`re still having problems.

Both files do not exist. This is just it, internet explorer requires msvcrl.dll, when when googled comes up as spyware etc with the message, and totour.exe, when ever I connect to the internet looks like it TRYS to download or place itself in system32, but avast detects it and deletes it.

I somehow sense a problem deeper then just spyware :(

Probably unrelated, I've managed to stop myself being able to click advanced setting on my volume control...it was working, then i pushed something and its now greyed out ¬¬.

I think it`s time for you to consider backing up your important data and reformatting the system.

I cannot find any useful info on how to permanently get rid of the totour.exe infection.

I was thinking it was getting near to that stage, I have my install disk for everything. But other then the virus that try's to attack, and IE not working. Everything runs really well.

I'll have to ponder it, and I really don't want to install WoW again, will take ages :D

Thanks for all the help Howard :) Probably see you again should something else go funny.

Hi Chipmyster

Any luck? I'm also having the same issue.

1. IE will not work
2. totour.exe pops up everytime i reboot
3. Eveything else runs well

Thanks

Hello and welcome to Techspot.

Download the Pocket Killbox programme from HERE. Extract it but don`t run it yet.

I may have found a sollution, I stress may have!

I take no responsibility for any damaged caused through trying this fix.

Go and follow the instructions in this post HERE and let me know the results.

This is the filepath you need to enter into killbox.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\totour.exe

Reboot your system and let me know the results.

Regards Howard

I will look onto those when its not 11pm ^.^, although i managed to stop the attacks by just stopping windows explorer accessing the internet, not sure what happens when i unblock it >.<

But I will try that fix.
