Hey, (new here)

Every once in a while, (running for a few hours to a few days.. seems to happen randomly) my windows xp pro system will crash/restart on its own. I am only running the following programs on it: unod32,spybot,utorrent,malwarebytes, and macdrive

Here is the data from event viewer->applications

Any help on this matter is much appreciated for this has been occurring for some time and I'm afraid its going to end up corrupting my hard drives( it is also very annoying)

If you need anything else to help diagnosis the problem let me know. Thanks!

download memtest from the link below. Burn the iso onto a cd using ultra iso, now boot off the cd. let it run for at least 6 hours or 7 passes. Then post back the results

will do. i'll return in a day or so with the results. thanks

i downloaded the mem test.
which file do i burn with ultra iso?

I unrared the main file ( the file i downloaded)

and i burned " memtest86_3.5.iso " when i tried to boot from it i got "os error"

I just burned it exactly as the directions said
I go to my boot device menu , choose IDE CD-Rom Device

and I get " error loading OS"

When turning my pc on I don't get the option "press any button to boot from cd"

I have my bios set to have the cd rom first on the booting as well.

thanks for all your help.. just not sure whats going on

edit:: i'm having dvdplayer complications i'll have to fix these first

It sounds as though you are not burning the ISO to CD correctly
ie You don't burn the ISO you open the ISO with your burning program (like File -> open) and burn the image ISO file, to automatically create a bootable Memtest CD

Alright fixed my dvd drive problem.

I burned the ISO (not the rar file)
It says

"There is nothing to do here

Memtest86+ is located on the bootsector of this CD

EDIT

got it running.. its running right now, will report back in the morning

right now its on:
pass 35%

Actually I do remember seeing that some very old computers could not "boot" from the newly created Memtest CD (actually I found this out on a Linux forum a long time ago)

Please try using the exact program as linked in the Memtest guide
And test again (ie do it one more time)

two more crashes today
