Crashing/freezing problems -- do I need new PSU?

Hi
Having some issues with my PC crashing & freezing. Think that part of the problem might be my PSU.

My current set-up is:

LC-8400BTX 400w PSU
Windows 7 Professional 64Bit
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q8300 @ 2.50GHz
FOXCONN G41MX 2.0/G41MX-K 2.0 Motherboard
4GB RAM (2 x 2GB Sticks)
ATI Radeon HD 5770
Samsung HD103SJ ATA
Seagate Barracuda 500GB SATA

Don’t know if 400w is enough to power this.

I don’t have a load of money so was looking at this as a 550w PSU replacement. Problem is I’m no good at working out suitable ampage/wattage/voltage levels - the PSU I was looking at replacing it with is a CiT 550w dual rail PSU (can't post the link as not enough posts, but it's on Amazon). Don't know if that's any good/suitable/will help? Would appreciate some advice.

Thanks

Nick
