Prior to doing a reinstall of my Vista OS I used Partition Magic to delete all partitions on my harddisk and then repartitioned and formatted it using the same size partitions as before, one primary and one extended. However, just as I was about to do the reinstall I realized that I had wiped out important video files.
Now I'm totally new to to the recovery game so I need to know what the best newbie-friendly tool (preferably freeware) is to accomplish this, a DOS based tool or one that works from within Windows? I say within because I have a dual-boot with XP on a second harddisk. I assume that if I used a DOS based tool I would be able to save the recovered files to the XP drive.
Thanks
