  1. So last week I installed Office 2010 on my computer and uninstalled Office 2007. At first I thought everything was good to go. But when I go to open up an Excel file I cant unless I open excel 2010>File>open>and then find the file I want to open. Is this because they aren't compatible? If I just go into my computer and try to open the file it tells me "There was a problem sending the command to the program" I can open Word Documents just fine either way I go about it. Its just Excel I'm having issues with. Any solutions?

Right-click on one of the files, OPEN WITH and select your Office/2010

Then you have serious issues as this has worked elsewhere

See what happens if you open an Excel file in 2010 then save it again using Save as.

I still get the error "There was a problem sending the command to the program" Why is this? I only get this error message when I try opening excel, it will open word docutments

    Office 2010
    1. To begin, click on Start and then Control Panel.
    2. After the Control Panel window opens, click on Uninstall a Program.
    3. A list of all installed programs should now appear. ...
    4. After the dialog box loads, choose the Repair option and click Continue.
