Direct X 9.0c will not install

Hello, I am trying to play a game that requires directX 9.0 cbut for some reason it will not install. I recently had to replace my hard drive and reload my OS. So far, I have all the video and audio card updates. So i have no idea why its not installing. I did the download off off microsoft's website. These are the error logs.

I assume you are running Vista or 7 and not XP then.

Have you tried running this installation as Administrator?

Right click the installation file and "Run as Admin"

If this does not work, open command prompt as admin.

click the start menu, then type CMD, right click and Run As Admin on the command prompt.

Type: sfc /scannow

Yes there are 2 N's in it, and a space between "sfc" and "/scannow"

See if ther are any files missing/corrupt and maybe it will repair them.

Hopefully one of these help.

I tried both and neither worked :( as for the scan, it found no integrity issues. Running the install as admin did not work either.

If not, I have an idea. I just noticed that on the server at work we have a Nero installation that installs DirectX 9.0c at the end of the installation. And this is on Windows 7 machines too, all our new builds are windows 7 and they take it, no errors, but I have never tested games requireing it.
 
Hello, I tried the first ling you sent me, and it downloaded a bunch of files. I am not sure where to put them.
 
Why would you need directx 9.0c on windows 7 when it comes with directx11 which already includes what you need. (backward compatibility)

that's why dx9c doesn't install. unless you uninstalled dx11 (which is not recommended) then i see no reason for you to install dx9c. it doesn't matter what video card you have.

if the game doesn't work then it's a problem with the game. what game is it? did you try changing the compatibility mode to win xp? older games have problems with 64bit or win vista/7 in general.
 
DirectX 9.0c has some files are required for some games that were developed for DirectX 9. Even though you have directX 10 or 11 installed, you still do not get some of the files that were added in other variations (this being the C..)

Therefore, she needs DirectX 9.0c to run what ever game it is.(Corrected :p)

You need this file to run Aion on windows 7 64bit. I know because I had to do it.

It is not an issue with the game. DirectX 9.0c should be able to install without issues.

** UPDATE **

Scratch the first link, should have checked that one myself before saying to download it. Ignore the first link. Try the DirectX Web installer, and then try the last one as well. Assuring that it is Run as Admin.
 
You are right, Aion does need some dx9 files, i forgot This is what happens when you use programmers that can't keep up with new technology.

If the latest/second latest dx9.0c redistributable doesn't work then you have some other problem. Did you check the forum of the game you want to play?

The last link also asks for a place to put files, and once again, I don't know where to put them. The second link gave the same errors. I ran everything as admin.

the game is Perfect World International....and their fix it basically the same as your fix. The other (more dangerous option) is fiddling with the windows files (or something??) and while I love gaming, losing my computer is not worth it.....

Dang, my mistake again, the third (then second, and now to be removed..) link was the End User License Agreements.. Basically they were useless.

Seems this issue is a little more indepth then I thought.. Will have to review the issue a little further.

Would you be willing to install the Nero version I suggested earlier that has DirectX 9.0c in the installer? The file is nearly 700MB big, so the only fairly easy way I see about trying to transfer it would be creating a shared folder between dropbox (Ever used it before?)

Or to keep attempting to fix the problem.

Basically just an updated version of my First link that I had. Although I understand it's function now.

Download it, run the EXE and extract the files to a folder of your preference (preferably a folder that is by itself to contain all the files) Then, run the file "DXSETUP" that is in that folder. It will run you through an installer.

Post back with the results.

and as for that Nero thing...I have a feeling that it won't work because it must be some problem on my end.....especially if all this isn't working.
 
I wonder if its my windows service pack??? I have not idea what that means but in my research I saw something about people downloading service pack 2 and 3??? ( I really know next to nothing about this contraption so I am probably talking nonsense)
 
Soooo, guess who's a dummy???? that would be me....someone just told be to mess with the compatibility and run it with xp....and well it worked. I did xp service pack 3 and boom...game runs.....I will take this and run.....thank you sooo much for helping me!!!!!!
