Sorry if this is in the wrong section...I am new.

For about 4 months now my computer has decided to be a p.o.s. and won't read discs. i've gone to best buy and other places to ask why it is doing this but they have no idea. what happens is when i put the disc in the drive it acts like it is gonna read but then stops.

So then i go to "My Computer" and try to "auto-run" but it doesn't read a damn thing. i click the drive and it gives me the error "please enter disc into drive."

I have no idea as to why it is doing this, Please help me!!! :(

Is it a CD Drive only, and you are putting in DVDs?
Is it just a single faulty Disc. Have you tried others?
In most cases, CD/DVD Drive is at fault, and requires replace, or a Disc Cleaner put through (you can purchase these at computer/electronic/Video shops

Or it could be Malware/Virus but I'd say it's the above!

yes it is a cd/dvd drive.
and i am putting dvd's into it.
it doesn't play any of the discs i have except for need for speed most wanted.
also, i got a new disc drive because it was happening to the previous one.
but i bought this scanner and it didn't find anything.
i usually keep my computer free of that stuff.
my computer is my pride...but it saddens me that this is happening and i can't fix it.

Defective drive. There are a lot of them these days. Yours should still be under warranty. Try another, an you will find that it works unless there is intefferring software or settings.
