In brief: There's rarely been a time when PC gamers have had so many quality titles available to buy or pre-purchase. That usually means giving your virtual wallet a hammering, but the Epic Games Store's summer sale is here to lessen the burden with up to 75% off some games and 10% back on purchases.

Epic usually offers 5% back from game, app, and in-app (using its payment system) purchases during its sales. For the latest summer event, however, the company has doubled that figure to 10%. Buyers will receive their money back 14 days after making a purchase.

Epic has its usual slew of discounted games on offer. Some highlights include 25% off the recently released Dead Island 2, bringing the zombie FPS down to $44.99; the excellent Alan Wake Remastered for $11.99, which you should try before buying the upcoming Alan Wake 2; and the still-brilliant and beautiful Red Dead Redemption 2 for $19.79.

Elsewhere, the entertaining Far Cry 6 has 75% off its price ($14.99), Death Stranding Director's Cut is half price at $20, Civilization 6 has a massive 90% off ($5.99), Watch Dogs: Legion is just $8.99, and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is 25% off at $52.49.

Some personal favorites include PC Gamer's best game of all time, Disco Elysium – The Final Cut for $9.99, Metro Exodus for $5.99, the System Shock remake for $31.99, the new Dead Space at $41.99, and this writer's most-loved game of last year: Marvel's Midnight Suns for $23.99.

In case you don't already know, the surprisingly small reductions on Crime Boss: Rockay City and The Lord of the Rings: Gollum should in no way tempt you to buy them. Unless they drop to zero, and even then there are better ways of spending your time.

The Epic Games Store's summer sale is on now and continues until August 3 at 11 am ET, so you've still got over two weeks to decide if you should buy more titles or wait until Baldur's Gate 3, which arrives on the same day the sale ends.
