Error formatting PC

I tried to format my laptop today but I cant. "It said that my pc needs to be repaired" and "the application or operating system couldn't be loaded because a required file is missing or contains errors." What should I do then???

"What should I do then???"... The built-in restore feature is corrupt, so you may have to get a Windows install disc. The hard drive may also be bad

I had an HP that had a similiar screen come up on it. Needless to say I couldn't afford to repair/replace the harddrive/OS so I ended up dumping it.

What program did you use to try to format your hard drive and which drive did you try to format?

You could always put Linux on the laptop, if you dont have a windows installation disc.
