Error messages after tweaking

i have no idea what's going on with this damn computer. every so often it pumps out an error message telling me that something needs to be closed. i've been tweaking my system with Tune up utilities & TweakUI, so i figure i might have somehow compromised the registry. it seems to be mostly .exe files doing this, as well as microsoft help and support, and something called WMI which seems to encounter trouble more than average. also, since downloading a few new pieces of software im recieving a error for freeware implementation of REG.exe. ive restored the OS, i've ran all types of virus and spyware scanners, i tried importing file association .reg files, nothing has changed.


this may be unrelated, before the restore i had trouble installing java due to some type of security issue with cabinet files. since the restore, i have had no problem, why?

Hopefully there's a lesson learned in this experience, don't use Tune up utilities & TweakUI; you never know what was changed.

If you have the resources, restore or recover the system and then deal with programs you need to reinstall.

Leave the Java issue to be solved LAST.

i've already tried undoing the tweaks with what i thought would be a clean restore. but since, the errors have only increased and the roster of programs that constantly die has changed. reinstalling does nothing.
