Error while reinstalling Windows xp

So i am reinstalling widows xp over my old windows xp cause my comp got all messed up by trojans. While installing, once it reaches around 33 minutes left my computer restarts and the time jumps back up to 39 minutes. It keeps doing this over and over. When i check the system setup log it says that

"Setup has encountered an error while trying to set system security."
"An extended error has occured."

I dont know what to do! please help!

Did you do a format during the installation or are trying to repair your existing installation?
