ESPRIMO P2510 USB Mass Storage Problem

Hi. Here's the info on my chipset drivers. Not real sure, but I think they are in my AMD display. I'm not real sharp on this. The chipset should me the first driver you install. Maybe someone here with more knowledge then myself can help.
Motherboard. I would think that the chipset would have been installed when you reinstalled XP:'(

Frequently, there are more than just one;
  • nic
  • graphics
  • kb
  • mouse
  • modem
  • USB 1,2,3
  • Bluetooth
Suggest the OP download and install Belarc to find the devices on the system and proceed from there.

If I choose to install the stick manually, where can I find the driver?

Hi, I think the chipset is fine

Hi. I'm above my pay grade here, but thought I would post my screen shot. I realize we have different machines, but thought it might help someone watching this thread.;) I have read that the chipset has something to do with the USB ports. I will try to find that article.
Here's a quote taken from the article.
What is the chipset driver for?
The chipset is usually made up of two chips: the northbridge, and the southbridge. The northbridge is the main chip which connects to the CPU and high-speed expansion slots. The southbridge is a support chip which provides things like USB ports, network connections, and disk drive controllers.Jun 10, 2010
PS You have stated that no sticks work on your PC.

If you can not execute the Belarc installer, then you have bigger issues that just the USB stick

Like I stated before. Maybe the MB or the power supply. Thanks for helping @jobeard Two heads are always better then one. I thought the same thing after reading not able to execute Belarc.;)OP said they reinstalled XP. That should have solved software. The only thing left is hardware.

Depends upon HOW it was reinstalled; repair or full wipe and start over. My guess is repair in an attempt to avoid the 100s of updates, even thought it would be questionable to even access them now. Personally, I've found it rare that hardware (other than a crash HD and dust), is the root of a system problem.

All I'm saying is, just because a printer works in a USB port, doesn't mean a flash drive will work in that port. Power could be a cause and that involves MB and power supply. Like the OP states, very strange that no ports recognize any flash drive device
I will wait for reply from OP.;) Wondering how many USB ports there are? Have they all been updated or reinstalled?

HMM; USB Flash pulls trivial power and the Devmgr clearly shows a missing driver. indicting the MB/PS is over reaction IMO when drivers and execs are not operating properly.

@diab2004 My recommendation would be
  • extract the HD so as to allow it to be recovered on a NEW SYSTEM
  • then trash the old hardware and XP to move up to another more current platform and OS
  • reattach the old HD and extract your existing files (and you will need new programs for the new OS)
You know XP is no longer in maintenance and now you have a major reason to move forward. Wish you every success, but this is a dead end to me, so I'm bowing out at this point

I agree with jobeard on the driver. Wonder if you could somehow force the driver to complete, in other words ignore the error.

I have never disagreed with @jobeard I Have only posted my suggestions and have agreed and posted that the issue could be a chipset driver. Other flash drives fail to be recognized also.

Hi, all
I can not execute some Exe files such as driverpack solution and Belarc. Don't know why, may be after installing dotnet, whatever, I can not execute Belarc.
I have 8 USB ports: Mouse, keyboard and printer and others are working fine no problem at all.
About the SFC /SCANNOW it asks for CD, which it is not exist (Have no CD room).
Last thing, I don't understand this point

you mean, I remove the hard desk and uninstall, what is this? Am lost. sorry. simplify PLZ.

Hi! IDK. XP is no longer supported. There really is no telling IMHO, what you will encounter when you keep running this OS. I'm in totally agreement with @jobeard and @cliffordcooley " Time to upgrade and move on.

Hi, This is my work PC, it's not mine. So I have to deal with it. The HD is 40 GB. Win 7 will not be complying to Min requirements.

That depends on how much storage you need for Applications and Data. Even Windows 10 installs on less than a 20GB partition. I currently have Windows 10 installed on a 40GB partition.

With that said though, I understand what you are saying and why. I only wish I could help. It has been a long time since I used Windows XP. I think I moved on back in 2008, because I started beta testing Windows 7 in march of 2009. And then upgraded to Windows 10 for free. I would need access to Windows XP to refresh my memory on a few things, before I could even start to assist.

Then the company has serious issues in keeping current, securing proprietary information and customer data.

Also, unless you are the tech support person, you should just turn the system into the staff for repair.

IMO, you're totally wasting your and company time fussing with this archaic system.

  1. Yes, physically remove the HD to preserve the existing data.
  2. obtain a new system & OS
  3. then you can recover the data from the old drive.
