Evga rtx 3080 12gb price drop

The EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 12gb FTW3 Ultra Gaming Graphics Card price has dropped to $999.00 at Microcenter and other sellers.
Is it ok now for me to buy this card? I know there was a lot of grumbling when Nvidia released the 12GB version of the RTX 3080.
Performance wise the RTX 3080 12GB is somewhat faster than the RTX 3080 10GB ( which no longer seems to be available) and it does get close to the RTX 3080 TI . I have seen a lot reviews that said to just get the original vanilla rtx 3080 because the TI version was way to expensive. The 3080 12GB would be for 1440p, and would replace my Nvidia GTX 1080 TI.
Is $999.00 a good price? Or should I just wait until the 3080 TI price drops? Or wait till Oct when the next generation shows up.
I do like the price on this though. Any suggestions or advice?
Thank you in advance who ever replies.
