I am getting the fake windows security pop up. I have tried removing it with AVG8.0, spyware doctor, and Malwarebyte to no avail. When I bring up Firefox, I also get a protection warning. Firefox will crash 5 out of 6 times before I get a stable connection. Same with Microsoft Mail. Please help. Here is my hijackthis log:

Windows Security Popup

I am getting the windows security popup virus. It pops up every 10-20 min. Also, when I open Firefox the initial page is a "Insecure Internet Activity: Threat of Virus Attack" screen. Firefox will crash at initial launch 5 out of 6 times. Windows Explorer and Windows Mail will also crash. I have run the 8 steps and I still have the problem. I am attaching the 3 logs. Please help.

I did the 8 steps and posted in this thread.

I would remove the following from Add\Remove Programs in Control Panel:
MEDIC
MyIdentityDefender
McAfee (Removal tool here: http://majorgeeks.com/McAfee_Consumer_Product_Removal_Tool_d5420.html )
AVG (Removal tool here: http://www.grisoft.cz/filedir/util/avg_arm_sup_____.dir/avgremover.exe )
Spyware Doctor
Symantec (Removal tool here: ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/removal_tools/Norton_Removal_Tool.exe )

Your choice at removing the following:
UltimateBet
PartyPoker
Bodog Poker

There are a number of "File Missing" entries in HJT they can all be removed (Tick and fix, only those ending in "file missing")

Once completed run IE Reset (which will remove a whole lot of unneeded addons)

Then download and install Avira Free Antivirus

Run another CCleaner ( http://www.ccleaner.com/download/downloading )
Then do a full updated Antivirus scan

Note: This is all after a few restarts along the way ;)

I did all of the steps you suggested above. There is no change. I am still having all of the same issues.

Spyware/Malware removal

Download and try this, i worked for me with the same problem

Combofix.exe

download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe

ComboFix gets stuck at "ComboFix is preparing to run." I have made sure that firewall, anti-virus and anti-spyware are all shutdown. I am running Vista Ultimate and it seems to me that ComboFix is more geared for XP? Also, when I try to run ComboFix, CTDVDDET shuts downs. When I try to run ComboFix a second time, Windows Explorer shuts down and restarts. I tried this 3 different times (restarting and shutting down the firewall, anti-virus, etc). Same thing happened all three times

Perhaps!

I have not seen OneCare do much.

But with the above steps it may have softened it up for OneCare.

In any case we are glad it is fixed.
