Financial Times names Steve Jobs Person of the Year

**** you have issues. I'm dead serious, you should seek some sort of anger management or counseling. Now act civil before I call the idiocy management services for inappropriate conduct towards other members. I don't see why you stay here if things anger you so easily. It's like a child who has doesn't get his way.
I don't GAF who you call. Go cry to the mods, just cause I think "Julian" is a low grade pimp, and he's your hero. Is that civil enough for you, crybaby? Not much room for a difference of opinion with you is there, baby boy.

Oh I'm sorry It seems you have nothing to break down what I said except for yelling CRY TO MODS BABY BOY, CRYBABY. Think of something better, not that I'll read it, useless wastes of space like yourself go on my ignore list. Hows that? If you won't be civil then neither will the people who have to tolerate you.

Julian whatever gets my a**hat of the year award.

Steve Jobs, financially, has done a lot to shape business. Apple has dominated both the mp3 player and smart phone markets, and they're looking to be in a position to move into the corporate market as well. Already at my college, offices are starting to switch to iMacs. Plenty hate Apple, but you can't deny the success.

And mine too, although he does seem to amuse the children.

The major accomplishment of Mr. Assange has been to illuminate the fact that diplomats talk about one another the same as "ordinary" people. And the major repercussion of these revelations is, both our allies and enemies have publicly stated, "you should hear the things we say about you"....!

In obtaining the "intelligence" information, Mr. Assange has placed a young, naive, low ranking US soldier in danger of being tried for treason!

Mr. Assange has had very little to nil impact on the financial community, therefore the financial community has no responsibility to acknowledge his, "accomplishments".

At present, Mr. Assange's contact with the financial community, is based on sponging off the rich in a British mansion, as he awaits extradition. So, as I've stated earlier, Mr. Assange is just a parasite, cyber gossip columnist, muckraker, and an information pimp.

He certainly is doing no good for the financial community, and the only work or jobs he is creating, is that of legal representation for himself, and one expects that we will want that for free.

If you ask his legion of "followers", he is the second coming of Christ. The problem with that assessment is, that most of his "followers" are teenagers who are completely unqualified to interpret news of any kind. As is the case, everybody has an opinion, the unfortunate part is that no qualification, education, or understanding is required when said opinion is issued to you.

Every generation believes they've invented music, sex, and rebellion. Sadly, that's rather delusional, and the delusions are grandeur based, probably due to hormonal imbalance. Here's a big news flash boys and girls, this generation didn't invent "yellow journalism" either.

When I want to have news interpreted for me, the first place I turn to isn't some loud mouth teen aged gamer, pumped up on Ritalin or Adderal.

So, Julian Assange, (IMHO), isn't qualified to be anybody's "man of the year", let alone "Financial Times". If you follow the logic thus far in this thread, some malicious exploit in an entirely different arena, qualifies him for that.

The truth is, Julian Assange isn't qualified to be "(*)Garbage Collector Magazines" man of the year either. He hasn't done anything in furtherance of garbage collection. And once again, if you follow the logic thus far in this thread, Julian Assange hasn't been named, "Garbage Collector Magazine's", "Man of the Year, because "Garbage Collector Magazine" is afraid of the government.

When I was a child, I spake as a child. ....Then I joined Techspot, and lo and behold, I just can't seem to shake that behaviour in others.

When I became a man, I put away such childish things......And have a nice day.

*("Garbage Collector Magazine", is a hypothetical publication. Any similarity to another publication, living or dead is purely coincidental).

Is that a typo, or a joke of some sort? :D

I agree with what you're saying, i'm not too fond of the guy myself...but at least he's making the news more fun to watch...

Oh, that's actually a fractured quote from The Bible (1 Corinthians 13:11). There are several slightly different variations of it. Herewith from the "King James" Edition;

"When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things".

Anyway, we do differ slightly in our interpretations of current events. You say, "entertaining", I say, "more annoying". But I suppose that's what being an old grouch is about.

I have to dash back to my post you're referencing, and add the disclamer, "Garbage Collector Magazine", is a hypothetical publication. Any similarity to another publication, living or dead is purely coincidental", lest I be ratted out for posting incorrect information.

If Mr. Assange were eligible for MotY based on the body of leaked documents, the the U.S. Government (Obama Admin. Edition ) would surely be eligible for "People of the Decade/Century/Milennium" using the same metric. Deliberately "leaked" reports such as this are a couple of orders of magnitude more explosive than anything WikiLeaks has ever published. Had Wikileaks made public documentation stating that the U.S.Government was planning on "stepping up attacks on al-Qaeda and Taliban insurgents in the tribal areas of Pakistan" I'm pretty sure it have surpassed all the previous "revelations" combined.

captain: nice use of the Corinthians quote/paraphrasing - very apropos.

(Some might wonder why the White House deliberately "leak" a report that is likely to further endanger people on the ground in Pakistan ? Maybe the answer is that a "tough-talk" announcement placed at the right time might help a $US725bn defense bill pass through the House).

Ahh, "Spake", "Spoke", "I used to speak". I'm intrigued about "Spake", i didn't even think it was a word. (but now i do....sort of)

Anyways. "old grouch", Hey, you're intitled to be an old grouch when you get old...Well, that's the line my Grandad uses on me anyway :D

Ratted out eh?...Here on Techspot, Nah, surly that would never happen. ;)
