Hello,

I have a Dell XPS m1530 laptop, and I had an idea that I wanted to discuss. It has a built in SD/MMC reader, if i were to buy an 8gb SD card and install a game on it would it be faster? I know read times on flash disks are very good...

Also, power consuption? The hard disc wouldn't need to be on...

I'm just intrigued... Any ideas are welcome!

Also are there ExpressCard SSDs?

Thanks guys!

Alex.

depends on the speed. generally the nicer the card(or more expensive) the faster the speed it also depends on the speed of your computer and its ports. i personally have been able to play halo pc(the first 1) off a usb 2.0 sony 2gb flash drive with no lag.

Flash memory cards come in a great variety of speeds... the fastest I have seen are a 133, and a150... you need a card faster than that... but look around. The camera shops are showing 180 and 200, I am told.

nope - a flash drive. But I do have that option with an SD card as I have a free PCMCIA port that I can easily put an SD card in. But I also use the port for additional USB hookups. My laptop is old, but still very functional.
