Question: I always figured a security suite like Kaspersky would at least send out a warning if there is backdoor internet traffic. So, where was it when this s**tstorm hit me? Is it worth my money at all getting it at all or could I just as well use the top ranked Free internet security suite? Maybe something like Avast? In the recent AV-Test it seems to still make a rather good impression.

There is no perfect security program.
If you read #13 from my previous reply you should know that a lot of your computer security depends on your computing habits.
