Freezes BSD after PSU replacement

The other day I had a unpleasent bang from the back of my computer along with smoke which I took to being PSU which was a ATX33 400w. I bought a replacement of a 500w ATX which is running except the machine freezes on games and occasionally you get BSD. Any idea what it could be?

The hard drive may have gotten corrupted data from the power supply failure. Take a close look at the motherboard for swollen capacitors. They look like this:

If you don't see any bad capacitors, try re-installing Windows fresh

Thanks for the advice. Checked out the capacitors which were ok. One suggestion made was graphics card so tried changing that for one I had before which didnt work. That threw a BSOD with a sys file I do not remember so put original card back in. Still no luck so cleaned everything out and went for an over the top install of windows. Fingers crossed
