Frequently random PC crashes / lock ups

Hello,

I have been experiencing major instances where my PC has been crashing so badly that I have to hold in the power button to shut it down and reboot it again.

I could literally be doing anything, for example, programming, Skyping, sitting on YouTube or watching movies. Then it starts to lag / slow down, mouse movements become delayed, keyboard becomes unresponsive (even the keypad LEDs fail to respond) and even absolutely nothing responds. I was curious to see if it unfreezes but, long story short, one day I was using it remotely, it froze like this and I could not return home to reboot it until the next day. It literally remained frozen for over 24 hours.

I have run virus scans, formatted Windows several times, updated all my drivers but nothing seems to have worked. I have also checked CPU temps and all are normal and both my RAM chips are fine. So the only two things left are my PSU and SSD, which is my main boot drive - so I suspect the problem is there.

See Attached PC specs and SSD stats.

I checked the event logs and I have found the following errors which I hope are of value:

Session "Circular Kernel Context Logger" stopped due to the following error: 0xC0000188

A TCG Command has returned an error.
Desc: AuthenticateSession
Param1: 0x1
Param2: 0x60000001C
Param3: 0x900000006
Param4: 0x0
Status: 0x12

I have researched the errors but I cannot on own conclude that my SSD is what is causing the issue.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

PS I am at my wits end trying to figure out a solution after taking the PC in twice and being told that they can't find anything wrong with it... clearly there is.

A common approach to solving a crash is to review the system EventVWR.

In the left panel, expand Windows Logs
click on System

The list is most recent to least, scroll thru looking for ERROR (it will have a red circle with an !).

Open the first Error, click the COPY button at the lower left and PASTE it into your follow-up.

Scroll to the next Error and repeat

and once last time repeat.

Those 2 screenshots gives me very little to work with.
Download, extract to a new folder, launch it, maximize the window and screenshot it.

Open the case up, shine a flash light at the psu.
Give me the brand name and model number please.
While you are using your pc how many minutes or hours is it stable before it begins to lock up ?

Herewith included are all screenshots using both programs, as well as a photo of the psu.
For additional info on the psu, please see included link:

Answering your question, before it would occur on average about once or twice every two weeks, but today, at the time of writing this response, its happened about three times within the space of 45 minutes. I cannot explain why its particularly bad today. I've only been on YouTube mostly.

And just another question from my side, are all of these lock ups causing physical damage to the CPU or any of the other components in the process?

Are you using an ssd by chance or a hard drive, I think this might be your problem.

Just to be sure, click on cortana, type in event viewer.exe hit enter.
Check the system logs and find the last set of errors you had early this morning.

Hello MaikuTech, I am used an SSD as my boot drive, so as a small experiment, I partitioned one of other internal hard drives and installed windows on it. Other than the fact that its a lot slower, I haven't experienced any issues related to lock ups or random freezes.

I will have a look at the proposed solution properly in the next three weeks. Right now this dual boot is only a temporary solution until I have time to attempt to "fix" my SSD.

In the interim, I greatly appreciate your assistance and I will update you if you wish, on my progress of "fixing" the SSD when I manage to get to it.

Give me the ssd name and model number, it shouldn't take 3 weeks to get a broken drive replaced.
By the way if you don't mind me asking where do you live currently ?
If its not in the usa, you may have to directly email the manufacturer for support.
Shitty move on their part but thats how some international companies do things. =/

Sorry you misunderstand, I am a university student and I am in the middle of exams so that's what I meant when I said I have to wait. I am just waiting until after they are complete so then I devote my full attention to the issue.

I am indecisive if I should contact the manufacturer or attempt to fix the issue on own - by properly going through the link you sent me earlier.

Its a Crucial MX300 275GB - CT275MX300SSD1

Yea unfortunately I do live out of the US.

I wouldn't try to fix that ssd yourself, however you will either do live chat or call them if provided.

This is the united kingdom version of crucial, change your flag to where you live at.

Explain to them your ssd is malfunctioning and might be failing.
I never did any tecnical support requests with crucial.
However they should be like kingston technical support very knowledgeable and thorough.
Since both companys make top notch memory, and their customer service is straight up awsome.

Let me know what you decide to do after my reading my posts up till now.
