Fry's Electronics calls it quits after nearly 36 years in business

Anyone know why say Microcenter and Best Buy were able to keep going, but Fry's could not? They were a big deal back in the day (for people who lived near one)....
Both Microcenter and Best Buy have good online websites experiences, Fry's was hard to navigate and hard to search to find the exact product you want. As a result I usually went to Newegg or Amazon when I could afford to wait for a product. Fry's online presence sucked and I am sure it cost them dearly.

For those who were not able to shop at a Fry's -- just think of a store the size of a Costco but filled with every type of electronics imaginable and a more pleasant atmosphere.

A better strategy would have been to downsize versus calling it quit...! Close some stores and move inventory to smaller stores until pandemic is over and then re-build again...!

I would miss Fry's because you could find discounted prices for in-demand items such as computer or A/V cables and the fact that you could buy components such as motherboards, power supplies, memory, storage devices, etc. of different Taiwanese manufacturers ideal for system builders...!

Ship has sailed ever since they went to a consignment model.
