Gaming consoles are more expensive than ever, and fewer people are buying them

Most people are not buying consoles to use as web browsers. You're gonna have to try harder than that.
They’re also not buying PCs so you soukd too.
Also...most people have PHONES. With web browsers on them. This is not a selling point.

"updcalknf"? TF is that? You mean Upscaling?

I guess you didnt bother reading the rest, because you cannot configure settings on console. That was a major part of my point. You dont get adjustable settings, at most you get a "performance" and "quality" preset with no fine tuning. You are stuck with whatever the dev choses.
Performance and quality presets are literally adjustable settings. They might not be as granular as you may want them to be but the vast majority of people just keep the auto detect or a preset on PC anyway.
Bootlicking is unsightly

What is a "visible"? You should spend more time proof reading and reading the comment you are responding too.

Also PCS can play blu rays too. Duh.
Please find me a 4K blu ray drive for a PC. Even if you can it won’t be plug and play as getting blu ray to work on PC has been a pain for a while now.
Firefox and safari. Also you didnt address the point of add ons or ad blockers. Brave on PC has access to ublock origin and ghostery, neither of which exist on Xbox.
Who have about 20% market share between them. The majority coming from Safari which is locked to Apple devices annd is inflated with iPhones and Firefox is effectively irreverent at this point.
Again the majority of what most people do is on phones and tablets, not consoles. People paying big money for stationary processing power want capability, not a locked down box. This is why console sales keep trending downward.
Not really they’re buying it to play games, you’ve said it yourself they don’t need a PC becaure they have a phone. The PS5 is on nearly 100 million units, it’s selling just fine but they’re expected to trend downwards they’re 6 years old and a new gen isn’t far away.

You can do many things through a browser on the Xbox, but nothing comes close to the versatility of PC. The capabilities of each system are so different, it’s difficult to compare once you get deeper than a surface level analysis. Entirely different use-cases for each.

Microsoft tried to make the Xbox the all-in-one family entertainment system not too long ago, and it drastically failed.
What would an average person need on the PC that TV eg couldn’t do through a browser or their phone?

Never owned a console but have been PC gaming for 40 years. Desktop PCs are less likely to have "sprawl" comfort (its hard to slouch around the house and play on a TV with a desktop) but PCs top consoles because everything digital can be done on a PC. $1000 for a console? Yikes. The AI induced inflation has hit everything. Built a moderate gaming rig for $1500 a year ago, I rechecked the config and it would be over $2300 now. Yikes again but I am playing on a TV, PC. Maybe we all should be playing on a console. PCs growing in % use for gaming still? Maybe in the last year but doubt that can continue

Tons, that’s why consoles haven’t overtaken PCs in function and market usability already. If consoles were the one-stop-shop already, and the UX/versatility were there, we’d see a completely different market of PC and console use right now.

But, we don’t, because consoles are for specific entertainment use-cases, and PCs are for any raw function you wish to execute, without having to worry about the very obvious limitations of consoles.

It’s literally comparing a pea to a hand grenade my man. They aren’t the same.

Xbox and Sony should just take a page from Nintendo.

It doesn’t have to be the most expensive hardware. Give console devs 10-12 year development cycles of mid-upper tier hardware mix. That way it has a leap in tech while allowing for affordability.

With AI tools now being adopted, this can allow for more games being made again in a mature ecosystem.

If MSFT and Sony were smart, they would delay the next Xbox and Ps6 to 2030 so they can incorporate AI processing and RAM capacity to ramp.

Possibilities for games with AI processing :
AI driven RPGs with dynamic leaning NPCs and worlds.

Shooters with more destructible environments with physics that mirror reality.

Platformers with generated worlds and endings that are never the same each time but also coherent storytelling as well for max replay.

Desktop sales have tanked bud. They spiked during Covid, though still not to the same level of the 2000’s and then have been on decline again since.

I don’t think you’ve understood the question. If people can use a phone instead of a PC why would they buy the more expensive option (PC) for functionality they already have rather than buying a console which can at a push do what they would do on a PC. Plus PCs suck for use on a TV.

You’re not understanding the question.

Why would an average consumer buy a PC for gaming for £1500 when they already have a phone where they can do most of if not all they’d use a PC for when a console costs half that and is a better experience outside of sitting at a desk?

There is only one gaming company I support Arenanet, anything else I want I just torrent. I see things a bit different. I'm fine with my PC now, I can play anything I want, when the time comes to build a new PC, I'm waiting for AM6, I'll spend a bit more but torrent the games to offset the cost😂🏴‍☠️🎮 It works out in the end.

Would remind you that’s illegal and advocating or encouraging it can get the forums fined quite heavily
I been posting on other forums about torrenting, for a few yrs, like Wccftech comments section, and they keep going. I think we are ok here 😁 Plus I really don't care about the DMCA or copyright, if buying isn't owning piracy isn't stealing. My feelings will change once we can all have an irrevocable license on anything digital we buy.

I don’t think you understand how software works and how it has always worked

In related news, memory prices are up 8 million percent, and chip manufacturers are fully prioritizing AI.

Gaming hardware is painfully expensive across the board. An RTX 5060 ti will cost you close to $800.

Not just because prices are rising but because most people who want them already have them. Sony and Xbox pushes their consoles so much it's like they don't realise that everyone that wanted them has them already, at this point it's pointless like trying to sell snow to Eskimos

Hell yea guys, we did it, we're great again! Wanna buy something? Haha too bad libs.

Affordable commodities are woke and gay!
Anyone that gauges success by the cost of gaming does not have a clue. Yes America is heading to greatness again because of our President and his America first policies. God Bless America and God Bless our President.
