Getting BSOD errors

  1. I am currently running the following:

    Dell Inspiron 1200
    1.2 GHZ Celeron
248 MB (planning on adding 512mb)
    Windows XP Home SP2

I just got the machine and have been in the process of updating with all the security patches from Windows.

However, I am constantly getting the BSOD - and obviously with no real meaning to the message.

I have verified that all devices are ok and none are invalid.

I am attaching dump file along with the sysdata.xml file for your reference.

    Any help is greatly appreciate.

What does the bsod say, including all the numbers?

Is it the same bsod everytime?

Are any drivers identified in the bsod?

    Regards Howard :) :)

Blackice is the culprit. Upgrade blackice to latest patch or de-install black ice.

    BugCheck FC, {f8d7d7bc, cb4a163, f8d7d728, 1}
    Probably caused by : BlackDrv.sys ( BlackDrv+1033 )

Interesting. I did remove Blackice from the Startup menu.

However, I still had some additional BSODs. (this is really messed up - I am about to return the laptop to Dell).

I will also remove it as an option from the startup services through msconfig.

Nevertheless, upon startup I get the error message that the system had a serious problem and that it will send a report to Microsoft. Obviously, no additional details are found on the problem.

I did noticed a couple of things in the Device Manager section:
    1) If I show hidden devices, I noticed that Parport and Serial would show up with exclamation points.

    2) In addition, in the Display Adapters section, I am showing two drivers for the Display Adapters - both drivers are the same name - these are:
    Mobile Intel(R) 915GM/GMS, 910GML Express Chipset Family

I have attached the latest set of dumps.
    Any help is always appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

It still crashes at Blackice. You have to de-install Blackice and not disable.
