okay, I've removed those programs and have rebooted my computer, but it seems that those 4 programs refuse to be "fixed"

O23 - Service: ASKUpgrade - Unknown owner - C:\Program Files\AskBarDis\bar\bin\ASKUpgrade.exe
O23 - Service: Symantec Eraser Service (EraserSvc10823) - Unknown owner - C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccSvcHst.exe (file missing)
O23 - Service: Google Updater Service (gusvc) - Google - C:\Program Files\Google\Common\Google Updater\GoogleUpdaterService.exe
O23 - Service: nProtect GameGuard Service (npggsvc) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\system32\GameMon.des.exe (file missing)

OK I read all the logs
Yes these two (file missing) entries just won't let go  (just like Norton to be this way :D)
O23 - Service: Symantec Eraser Service (EraserSvc10823) - Unknown owner - C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccSvcHst.exe (file missing)
O23 - Service: nProtect GameGuard Service (npggsvc) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\system32\GameMon.des.exe (file missing)

You may need to run HJT in Safe Mode
ACTUALLY check Control Panel > Scheduled Tasks and remove everything in there

I can't see why they are not removing though
But as they are "Missing" anyway, it just means the Windows goes to load them, can't find them, and then creates an error log in Event Viewer about them
Its all very strange
I'd update to SP3 now, I have done this with Avira installed, and all went well

ACTUALLY, do you have Norton protection enabled on your Recycle Bin ?

I still am unable to download SP3 for some reason. It keeps saying that it can't display the web page, and I don't know if iI have norton protection enabled, how do I check?

Right click on the Recycle Bin, then select properties

Also you may want to run that IE Reset again:

Then restart Internet Explorer

Kimsland,

Re download ComboFix, do NOT uninstall it until you are complete later on, look carefully at the MBR section and I think you may see the problem. ;)

okay, here's the new log

----------------
btw, if you don't mind me asking, what time is it where you are, as I just want to know when it would be a good time to reach you if anything else happens

The only file that may be a concern is: c:\windows\system32\drivers\SPLOADER.sys
Can you locate that file, then upload it to HERE to do an online scan with it
It may be nothing

A good time to reach me?
Anytime day or night, I tend to be on at any hour (ironically I just went off for 3hours just as you asked - well before I got your reply) But usually I'm always on, anyone can tell you that :)

ok well good quick test anyway

Now, after the IE Reset above, are you now able to update to SP3 ?
Or what error at what stage, are you not able to install it?

Oh yeah, quick question before i reboot my computer. Does the google redirect malware, or what ever it is, only redirect you to sites that have dangerous content, or does it also function as a another virus like a keylogger?

No, usually it redirects you either:
  • Away from Malware scanning sites (so as to keep Malwares on your system)
  • Or, directly to a Malware infested site, that tries to get you to download Rogue programs
Oh and you are back to triple posting :D

okay, I think it's fixed. I've tried 50 times, and so far, I haven't been redirected yet. Should I keep an eye out for the next few days? Thanks for all the help
