Google search hijack virus - help needed (logs attached)

Hi,

I seem to have caught the Google search hijack virus that keeps redirecting me to advertising sites from search results.

So I followed the instructions on https://www.techspot.com/community/...lware-removal-preliminary-instructions.58138/.

After the step where CCleaner was run, I started getting the "DCOM Server Process Launcher service terminated unexpectedly" error and my system tried to shutdown. I stopped it using "shutdown -a" and did the rest of the steps.

Attached are the 3 logs.

Current status: the google search redirect is still happening and so is the DCOM forced shutdown.

Please advise me on how to proceed further,
Thanks, your help is highly appreciated.
Sameer

Hi Again,

Sorry to be a bother. I know that you are answering posts in order, but I was wondering if you had a chance to take a look at my logs. My forced shutdowns and redirects are driving me insane :(

Thanks once again,
Sameer

It seems that both links on the page you mentioned are down - some problem with ComboFix is being resolved.

I will report back after I am able to download and run it.

thanks for your response,

I downloaded and ran ComboFix. Attached is the log file.

Please let me know what the next step is.

Thanks so much,
Sameer

SWEET! No DCOM error. No redirects thus far.

And, last but not least, lots more free space (atleast 1.5GB more!)

I really appreciate this...
