It seems Apple has lost yet another battle with the jailbreak community as Cupertino’s yet-to-be-released iOS 7 has already been jailbroken. iOS developer and jailbreak community member Ryan Petrich recently posted a screenshot on his Twitter account showing his newly jailbroken iPod touch although he didn’t offer any explanation alongside the image.

Petrich is a well known figure in the jailbreak community as he previously released programs like LiveClock and Activator, the latter of which showed up in his iOS 7 jailbreak screenshot. It’s unclear which hole(s) the developer used to circumvent Apple’s security and odds are, it’ll remain a secret at least until the software is released to the general public.

The reason for keeping the vulnerability a secret is simple – if it were to become public knowledge now, Apple would have plenty of time to patch it before iOS 7 is launched. Moving forward, it looks like most hackers have abandoned iOS 6 and are devoting their full attention to the upcoming release.

iOS 7 first surfaced at WWDC 2013 in June following months of rumors indicating a major overhaul was in the works. Those rumors turned out to be true as Jony Ive, senior vice president of industrial design at Apple, created what the company described as the biggest change to iOS since the introduction of the iPhone.

The second beta for iOS 7 was released just last week with a number of few features in tow. Apple said they will be launching iOS 7 to the general public later this fall.

Thats great, and im sure its probably legit, but that would be the easiest pic in the world to photoshop.

Apple should just work with the jailbreaking community. Most of the new features on iOS 7 have been taken from stuff on Cydia anyway.

This shouldn't come as a surprise really. On one side you have Apple, trying to make a secure OS, and on the other side is the online community. The online community is endless, doesn't sleep, doesn't require payment, and is probably more devoted.

I saw in a movie (I think) that no lock is invincible, the good locks just take longer to get through. If Apple had done a better job we'd just be reading this next week instead.

Apple could never work with criminals to ensure their OS is foolproof. They know their is no honor among thieves.
