Help with CPU speed

I have buy a core 2 duo E7500 2.93Ghz processor today..but,when i install it to my pc..and i go into my bios..
It show me the processor speed is just 0.4Ghz only..why..someone can tell me??

Perhaps you need to update your BIOS, or Speedstep has kicked in.

i doubt Speedstep would start while your in the BIOS. but yea try the flash the BIOS to a newer version
