Apple launches iPhone Duo, its first foldable to rival the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold

It’s too small to be a pro grade phone.
It’s too small to be a pro grade tablet
It’s missing all the pro grade features.

This is a joke that is going to cost the company money, drop the stock, and further hurt their image after the Vision Pro. (I actually like my VP though).

But have you really tried iPhone? I know I’m subjective after 10years with iPhones, but my current is 15 that I bought last year in mint condition (second hand) for 350€ and I have a new work phone Samsung A35 that I use rarely and only for work (email, Teams chat, Browser for Jira/Confluence and 2FA for VPN) - no additional apps/games and it’s very laggy even when compared to my previous 13 mini (that is now my daughter’s)…
No... I am a Windows user, going all the way back to MSDOS, and a PC hardware enthusiast. Apple products do not play nice with Windows. In fact, it's almost impossible to mesh the two. In addition, I would never tolerate Apple's "we know better than you" tendency to limit what I can do with my own hardware. Android and Windows do work well together.

Dunno Samsungs are typically a poor value at every price point. At the very bottom and middle they’re worse than the Oppos of the world, in the top end they’re worse value than the Pixel and iPhone line typically being more expensive for an inferior product.
Cricket offers really good deals on Samsung phones. I've upgraded/updated to a new Samsung phone several times over the years and never had a problem out of a single one.

Depends what a “really good deal” is. Typically they’re just not very good and have been riding on the legacy of being the only decent Android phone from the early 2010’s

I buy Samsung because it's a good enough, reliable phone at a reasonable, affordable price, and it comes with several years' worth of updates. I could not possibly care less what anyone else thinks of what kind of phone I have, car I drive, place I live, etc.
ok, and.....why are you quoting me?

Why would you ever want to mesh the two?!?
Windows is windows. Apple is BSD.

But it’s clear it’s the second statement that holds the truth. You don’t like closed architecture. I’m surprised though you use windows and not Linux with that mentality.

Linux would actually have to be useful for that I’m afraid

This tech might actually be kinda neat for an anamorphic multi-geometry desktop display. Sell me this Apple.

I can afford one. I don't "need" one. I have a laptop & home PC, don't play games and prefer in this economy to SAVE my money instead of wasting it on a new toy. :)
That’s fine, and nobody said you need one. Spend your money however you want.

My point was about the childish “Apple sheep” nonsense. If buying an Apple product you like makes someone a sheep, then buying Samsung, Google, AMD, Nvidia, Ford, Chevy, or anything else because you prefer that brand can be dismissed the exact same way.

You can think the Duo is overpriced, unnecessary, or a complete waste of money. Those are legitimate opinions. Calling everyone who buys one a “sheep” isn’t an argument...it’s just playground brand war nonsense.

I have no desire to mesh the two. I make my living as an audio production specialist and there are no Linux programs that do what I need - not even close - and my employer doesn't support Linux. I've played with Linux and it has its place, but for most serious users it is simply not an option. Frankly, I wish it were, but it just isn't.

It's ten times as expensive, but is it ten times better? Of course not. Good enough is good enough. Oh, and I drive a $27k Mazda. Nice car, good enough, and paid for.
Yes, ten times better. From the cameras it has, from there materials, RAM amount, battery size, screens etc.

You can't say a $270k truck isn't worth it just because you don't need a truck. But if you need and value a such truck (materials, power, cargo, looks, exclusivity etc), that truck is much better than your $27K Mazda.

I don't know, I think there is something sacred about buying from your own country. I buy American because I'm from there. And the whole Apple eco-system works well. That said--Its still a pain in the butt just to add a damn mp3 to your iphone.

There is no such thing as "buying from your own country" anymore, and hasn't been for decades. Every product you but today, from cell phones to automobiles, is made from components sourced from all over the world.

I get your point. I don't understand buying a $2,000 phone, but you probably don't understand my $1,000 set of headphones, and my other $700 set of headphones.

But but but your "friends" will laugh at you if you don't have the latest iphone and you will be tossed out of your group.
THAT is the main reason you see EVERYONE buying these huge pickup trucks & SUV's. Gotta keep up with the Jones's. Same vehicles, same housing sub divisions, same clubs, same social circles.
Bunch of sheep.

Imagine not knowing what a truck is used for.

If you're an audio professional, totally. If you aren't... You're right, I don't.

The expensive HifiMan and Focal headphones are about the music enthusiast in me, and is a hobby. I am an audio professional, but a $300 set of headphones works for that. I edit and clean up audio books for the blind. All my hobby care four figure price tags, unfortunately. I also fly RC helicopters.
