How to integrate a VR app to an android app

Hi,
I have an existing fast-growing android app. I want to add VR as an additional feature to the same app. Is it possible? Or can the VR app be only developed as a companion app?

To explain the context a little bit, the existing app tracks user activities and VR is supposed to enhance the user experience further. However, the effect of the VR experience also needs to be tracked in the existing app so that the user data can be collated seamlessly and help the user achieve the purpose of being on the app.
