Dell Latitude D620

i've seen many posts about this issue with the bios password ( myself have the same issue ) but befor asking for help,

first, i will ask why r those posts closed? i haven't read any post saying that dell password discussions r closed.

second, I've read them but all of the websites posted in them that can "help" r either not avaliable any more or they want u to pay.

is there still hope for my laptop to be unlocked? ( any website that will help without asking me to pay? or anyone that knows what to do? )

now that u have read this u can guide me to a place that can help me, or if u know what to do u can ask me for all the laptop info ( srvc tag, xprs srvc cde, or whatever is needed ) or tell me what to do.

Thank you.

which pin? Bios, or.....? I Think that all methode to unlock this **** it's nothing. I've tried to replace the BIOS chip,.... and nothing happened, I've tried latitude.exe to see the password, but nothing happened too. Only when we call and pay someone on 3rd party company

Can you help me!!! I need a lot of Dell bios password removal tools, cause I work on a Recondition Laptop Factory, that my position is technician

Be aware that contacting Dell Support is still the best method
But otherwise read on

A good resource of lots of free utilities
Including Asset.com and Svctag.exe (to put your service tag back on)
Plus lots of other old Dell utility stuff

Just search previous posts

Then as a service center, you have access to the repair modes. This takes a great deal of work, and nothing is free. You just pass on the cost to the customer. Dell works with bonified, certified, licensed repair services. They are only concerned that stolen units are dealt with accordingly.

Yes raybay,
laptops are expensive and easy to steal and pawn... I can imagine that at least 40% of the laptops in this thread have been stolen at one time or another

Based on Insurance Company laptop theft reports, I think your guess is very high, TMagic650, but we live away from the big city markets... We have seen a large number come into the shop. We don't have a legal way to check on ownership, so we ask the customer to provide place purchased, approximate date purchased, and address at time of purchase... just in case something comes up... so far, nothing has.
We have a great number of clients over 55. Their forgetfulness is legendary.
One thing I have learned: If you own a Sony VAIO, you are really asking for it if you password. Sony is zero help. Lenovo Thinkpads are easier if you can verify date and location of purchase, but the Sony people are plain nasty.

Dell 1300 Bios Password Help

Hi all, I have a Dell 1300 that I got from my brother, where he got it I dont know but he waorks at Rent A Center so it may be a customer return. Unfortunately it has a bios password that I cant get past.

I think I read that the eeprom chip 24c04n has to be shorted, I read that Dell would be no help since you need to prove that you own the laptop. Can anyone generate a master password for me or maybe direct me to where I can get detailed instruction on how to short the eeprom.

I'm working on the laptop for a relative, says it was bought at a thrift store, has the receipt from that store, Dell isn't working with that. Need help elsewhere!

Thanx,
kKaoSs

kkaoss,
there are plenty of links and info on this thread to help you choose a modestly priced company that can help you with this. I'm sure your relative got the laptop for a great price. Have him shell out a little more $

I knew when an older Dell laptop using 24cXX, and how about a newer, like D520 or D620? So I can clearing the password?

it was bought at a thrift store, has the receipt from that store, Dell isn't working with that.
A receipt is a legal document that can hold up in court!
Please try Dell Support again, and explain that you are the legal owner.

@Tmagic650. Dell is first option always. A receipt means it's owned by them
Also I'm not trusting of these sites posted (externally) here. Unless there's lots of feedback by members. Strangely there hasn't been much or any feedback of members saying. I just got my Laptop fixed by this company at this price.

Dell's price is $39 (I think someone got it cheaper than that too, at Dell)
Not only that, but you become a Dell registered owner, for any future issues.

That's my point. You could have halved the cost. The question is why didn't you?
This is where you sign off, and don't answer back. Hence my suspicion.

I just turned 58 (June 3) and I keep a list of passwords for my clients and myself in a Word 2007 document on file... My 3 or so mostly used passwords are locked in my mind

It won't be long until she moves you out to a nursing home, and tells you it is a hotel on the Riviera and you are on vacation. You won't remember your name or hers, but she will remember your banking account.
