Hello to all
I am a new member and I have a problem with my hp h470 printer
my dell laptop has windows xp os system installed when I try to install my
hp h470 officejet printer the plug and play install the printer as a removeable
disk drive how can I cure this problem I have tried to disable plug and play
but then nothing works how can I stop windows xp plug and play installing
my printer as a removeable disk drive
all the best david

You need to download and install the HP printer driver from HP's website if you don't have a driver disk that may have come with the printer. Select the appropriate driver according to your operating system (32 bit or 64 bit).

Disconnect the USB cable from the laptop.
Begin installation of the driver and only reinsert the USB cable if prompted to during the installation.

Hi to all
what you have suggested I have already done installed the driver
for xp off of hp web site and when prompted pluged the printer in and still
the printer is installed as a removeable disk drive

Completely remove all traces of the printer, reboot and start over.

Hi to all
I completely removed the printer software and driver and rebooted
then reinstalled software and driver same result plug and play
installed the printer as a removable disk drive

Hi to all
uninstalled the hp software and driver then after rebooting connected the printer after xp had detected the printer I uninstalled
the printer then I reinstalled the software with the printer connected tried printing and in xp it worked printing a document off the cd in the drive now I opened the t4 testbook software and looked to see if it had recognised the printer it had so I tried to print a page but it did not work it looks like the path from the t4 testbook software and the printer is the fault how can I sort this

Hi David. I have no idea where this thread is going. I Googled your issue and this is what I found. Let us know how things go.

I have always been able to use the HP trouble shooter to fix all my issues. I have a very old HP printer and it works great. I'm running W10. XP is a very old OS, so who really knows what can happen. Good luck with your issue. Let us know how things go for you!

Capture25.JPG I do the best I know how here on techspot. Here's what I come up with. Let us know how things go for you. HP Finds no problems with my printer.

the software the page I want to print does not print there is no connection between

Hi to all
downloaded the hp printer diagnostic software and used it on
my laptop and it found no faults so the problem is with the mg rover diagnostic
software how can I sort it out

The "mg rover diagnostic tool" attaches to the Landrover to read fault codes.

How do you connect it to your PC - - does the window even SHOW a print button or file->print function?
