I'm all for open, non profit standards making things easier for everyone. But I have to say this just makes me think that someone at AMD thought "If we can't beat Intel with our products, maybe we can coerce them into using standards that put us on a more level playing field". Maybe I'm just overly suspicious. I hope to be proven wrong, I mean for sometime I believe that Nvidia has had better OpenGL support than AMD(ATI), not sure how they fair in DirectCompute...
