Hello all,

I recently found 2, sometimes more, iexplore.exe process running in my computer.
Everytime I kill them, they star running again.
This happens althought I use Google Chrome, rarely use IE8.
From times to times I get a pop-up showed on, even thought I selectedm, in IE8, to block all pop-ups.

I have avast 5 professional and Windows Defender.

Any help please?

Unfortunately, the hosting site has been down...

Download Bootkit Remover to your Desktop.

  • You then need to extract the remover.exe file from the RAR using a program capable of extracing RAR compressed files. If you don't have an extraction program, you can use 7-Zip: http://www.7-zip.org/
  • After extracing remover.exe to your Desktop, double-click on remover.exe to run the program (Vista/7 users, right click on remover.exe and click Run As Administrator.
  • It will show a Black screen with some data on it.
  • Right click on the screen and click Select All.
  • Press CTRL+C
  • Open a Notepad and press CTRL+V
  • Post the output back here.

Great!

Thank you very much for your support.

By the way, could you please tell me what kind of worm/trojan/malware/adware/spyware bug I had?

Onde again, tank you very much.

Best regards from Portugal,
Miguel

You're very welcome :)
You're infected with a rootkit, but we're not done.
Usually, when there is one infection, there is more.
We have to keep checking.

Please download ComboFix from Here or Here to your Desktop.

**Note: In the event you already have Combofix, this is a new version that I need you to download. It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop**
  1. Please, never rename Combofix unless instructed.
  2. Close any open browsers.
  3. Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.
    • Very Important! Temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and any anti-malware real-time protection before performing a scan. They can interfere with ComboFix or remove some of its embedded files which may cause "unpredictable results".
    • Click on this link to see a list of programs that should be disabled. The list is not all inclusive. If yours is not listed and you don't know how to disable it, please ask.
NOTE1. If Combofix asks you to install Recovery Console, please allow it.
NOTE 2. If Combofix asks you to update the program, always do so.
    • Close any open browsers.
    • WARNING: Combofix will disconnect your machine from the Internet as soon as it starts
    • Please do not attempt to re-connect your machine back to the Internet until Combofix has completely finished.
    • If there is no internet connection after running Combofix, then restart your computer to restore back your connection.
  4. Double click on combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
  5. When finished, it will produce a report for you.
  6. Please post the "C:\ComboFix.txt"
**Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall**

Make sure, you re-enable your security programs, when you're done with Combofix.

DO NOT make any other changes to your computer (like installing programs, using other cleaning tools, etc.), until it's officially declared clean!!!

I strongly suggest, you uninstall RegCure. Registry tools are not recommended and here is why: http://miekiemoes.blogspot.com/2008/02/registry-cleaners-and-system-tweaking_13.html

Open Windows Explorer. Go Tools>Folder Options>View tab, put a checkmark next to Show hidden files, and folders.
Upload following files to http://www.virustotal.com/ for security check:
- d:\windows\system32\mshtml.dll
- d:\windows\explorer.exe
IMPORTANT! If the file is listed as already analyzed, click on Reanalyse file now button.
Post scan results.

I just made what you mentioned...

I can't find RegCure in my system, how can I uninstall it?

I can't find RegCure in my system, how can I uninstall it?
Probably just leftovers. We'll take care of it later.

I'm not willing to open .pdf files from infected computer.
Please, post results as text files.

Sorry... Here it goes again.

By the way, I found another mshtml file without extension...

Click OK (Vista users - press Enter).
Restart computer.
