In that case, all I can advise, is you go back through the procedure in the previous posts and keep your fingers crossed. At least you now know what drivers etc you need and what order to install them in.

Regards Howard :)

I think I have worked out whats wrong sir. Look at this screenshot.

problem.jpg

It does that everytime man, it gets to 90 and then my internet conenction goes. Ok so after that I located the file for it and it asked me about if its ok to carry on because of the verifiying with windows. Now I clicked ok and my keyboard and mouse stopped working for a few seconds and it came up saying hardware might not work properly in the corner. I couldnt make a print screen of this for you as mouse and keyboard had got stuck. I am pretty sure there is a bug in the usb drive too because when I formatted on wednesday and then I was using it, it suddenly went onto some blue screen saying usb bug code error and it did that many times on my old one (as in before i had wiped).

Furthermore everytime I do that chipset installation thats what happens.

If you remeber, I attached the usbehce file for you yesterday, with instructions on what to do with it. It`s still there in post#24.

Regards Howard :)

I think you are missing my point man :(, I located the usbehce file for it by going into drivers within system 32. After that it froze and my mouse and keyboard. However after a few secs they were back but it said hardware might not work properly.

My first point is why the hell does it talk about hi speed usb only when i am installing the chipset and two I think theres a bug in the usb drive.

I am sure of a problem, look at this, I put my pen drive in to load some work:

I`m really sorry bobby, but I don`t know what more I can do to help you. I`ve tried my best, but at every turn, something goes wrong and another problem surfaces. Either, there`s a problem with your systems hardware. your Windows disk is faulty, or you just don`t have the expertise to accomplish what you`re trying to do.

If I were sat in front of your computer, I may have been able to sort it out for you, or at least tell you what the problem was. unfortunately, that`s impossible and I really think you need to take the pc into a repair shop and have them look at it for you.

Regards Howard :(

Man cant we run a utilitiy to check for the usb problem?. Come on man its not another problem, its a problem which has appeared everytime when I am trying to install that chipset.

That`s what I`m saying and I`ve said it quite a few times throughout this thread. You need to have your pc looked at at a pc repair shop. It`s quite possible you have a hardware problem. If that`s the case, no amount of messing about is going to solve it. In one your previous threads, I said it`s possible you have a drive problem. However, you never got back to me with the results of the hard drive diagnostic test.

I`m not a miracle worker. Some things I can`t fix by sitting at my keyboard and typing instructions.

Regards Howard :)

Ok whatever you say :(. By the time the drive diagnostic test had done, my pc had to reformatted, its harldy my fault. Anyway I will just have it looked at after my exams. Is there anything in the meantime which will allow the screen to go down smoothly atleast. By the way you know the file usbenchi was missing, does that mean its a ****e disc?

Sorry howard, this is all my fault, I am just angry, sorry if I have come across the wrong way. :(

Hi,

With regards to your PM, I'm not skilled in the area of graphics and hardware. However from reading the thread, I would believe that Howard has did what he could to help you. The problem here is just not as simple as it seems, so you would need to have it checked at a PC repair shop as Howard suggested.

If you can't scroll with your mouse, try using your keyboard.

As to your thumb drive, part of the problem could be simply the fact that it needs its drivers installed. Certain (very few I would believe) such hardware require manual installation as Windows does not have the right drivers for it to 'plug and play'.

Regards,
Your friendly momok =)

Yer fair enough momok, when I use pdf to view files, the screen flows very smoothly, I was wondering if there was something temporary like that I could use till I get this pc seen to.

What type of files are you trying to view most of the time that causes the weird scrolling problem? Where and when does it occur?

Regards,
Your friendly momok =)

Hi,

I must admit, I have no idea what could be the cause of such a problem or how to offer a temporary solution to it. In fact I'm not quite sure what you mean from your description either.
I'm sorry I couldn't help much.

Regards,
Your friendly momok :|

Its alright momok no worries. I am thinking of getting another xp disc, I have a feeling this one is faulty or why would it be missing a file?

Yep, perhaps that might do the trick. Good luck with the new disc and let us know if it solves the problem.

Regards,
Your friendl momok =)

No problem mate. If your problem is hardware related, then in no way is it your fault, so don`t be so quick to go blaming yourself.

A faulty Windows disk can cause all kinds of problems and it`s quite possible that`s the cause of your problems. I hope it is for your sake, as a hardware problem could be quite expensive to fix.

Regards Howard :)

Yer I am thinking of phoning dell actually, the two things I want to know are 1

1. Why didnt i get given a dell recovery cd
2. Why the hell is my graphics card different

This is just me but I'm a stickler for customer service and support. I would probably demand some form of compensation from them. :p

its ok, I am just wondering whether to take it to a nearby pc shop, the only problem being they will rip me.

I usually find it`s best to ask around your friends etc, for recommendations as to which pc shop to use. I would hope that any pc shop wouldn`t rip you off, but sadly I know for a fact that some disreputable swines do.

Let us know how you get on.

Regards Howard :)

haha yeah. i mean i have a warranty.Do you think its such a hard job to put a new usb drive in, I mean when my floppy drive busted 2 years ago, I managed to put a new one in without much trouble.

If your system is still under warranty, then you should have Dell fix it for you.

USB ports can`t usually be fixed and a mobo change is required. what do you mean by usb drive?

Regards Howard :)

well At the front I have 2 usb ports if you like, one to put my blue wire to connect to aol and another one to put in pen driver, or itunes connector. Basically by pulling it out (e.g. usb out of the port), it seems to have damaged it. And for some reason thats causing a problem forthe rest of the pc.
