Fast User -> properties -> {Auto, Manual, Disable} choose Auto

to set a password on Guest;
  • first ENABLE the account
  • then set the password
  • then disable it again

get all your virus's, trojans and malware out of the system; eg get it clean
use the Control Panel ->User Accounts.
All the account names will show up and there are a list of actions above them
  • add account
  • delete account
  • change account
  • set the way users log on
great! :)

You cant set a password for the guest account according to this

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/300489

The Guest account, even though disabled, is used for File/Sharing and not really part of your issues.
However, yes it can be set as shown - - I've done it for my system and for others.

The point of going to the usage of the LUA/UAC account is to avoid the window of opportunity
on the Admin account that gives the intruder the permissions to modify anything on the system.
February 3, 2009 (Computerworld) Nine of out 10 critical bugs reported by Microsoft Corp. last year could have been made moot, or at least made less dangerous, if people ran Windows without administrative rights, a developer of enterprise rights management software claimed today.

BeyondTrust Corp., which touts its Privilege Manager as a way for companies to lock down PCs, tallied the individual vulnerabilities that Microsoft disclosed in 2008, then examined each accompanying security bulletin. If the bulletin's "Mitigating Factors" section, the part that spells out how to lessen the risk of attack or eliminate it entirely, said that users with fewer rights "could be less impacted than users who operate with administrative rights," BeyondTrust counted the bug.

It's a small matter compared to the Lua vs Admin issue so don't get obsessed with it

Thats where im going but when i turn on guest and try to change account there is no option to do a password with a guest account.

could be in the Simple File Sharing option - - again; of no major concern compared to the ADMIN issue

Anybody got any more ideas on the original post? Its still coming and going sometimes it says i need ot install activex and sometimes its already installed.

Any possibility that i could be doing this when i run a clean up? I use Webroot Windows Washer, CCleaner, Advanced System Care. What should i look for in the settings to see if this might be the problem?

Im hoping enabling some of those java options in the custom security settings has fixed it, but it just seams weird that default would not allow it.
