Installing Windows XP on Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB hard drive

Hi. I have just installed xp home on a Samsung Spinpoint f3 1 tb hard drive.
I set the partition for installing programs (C:\ drive) at 50 G. The other partition is the remaining space. It would not let me format that space (format to NTFS)--how do I do that?

I have read, confusingly, that you have to divide a 1 tb drive up when installing xp, that you can't have a partiton bigger than a certain amount. Is that true?

Thanks for your help.

figured out one question

Well, to format the drive, you do the following, apparently: Go to My Computer, open it. Click on the drive that isn't formatted. It will say the drive is unformatted and ask you if you want to format it. Say yes, and you are off and running.
