Both Russia and particularly China have been moving towards their own CPUs for a while now so it's not like they weren't prepared.
It might hurt yes, but nowhere near as much as being effectively blocked from the rest of the world with the SWIFT restrictions if they materialize effectively.
Correct, but who is blocking whom?
It's the old Tail-Wag-Dog scenario. Russia and China being the Dog, and the US and EU being the dog's rear end.
Regarding SWIFT, all the West did is block themselves from Russian (and Chinese) resources.
- Russia is the largest wheat exporter in the world, far ahead of the US and the EU.
- Russia is the worlds largest energy producer, if you combine petroleum, natural gas and coal.
- Europe buys almost 40% of their energy from Russia. Germany is decommissioning their remaining nuclear reactors.
- Russia is really heavy into alternative energy, especially wind. Unlike the European nations, Russia has enormous empty areas to build wind farms. Russia has incredible hydro-electric potential in their uninhabited far east and arctic regions.
Without SWIFT how will the EU pay for that 40% of energy? And they will pay, big time. Germany is already squealing that they want only a 'limited' SWIFT ban.

EU gas prices jumped 35% since the SWIFT ban announcement.

YAY! Russia miraculously has a solution to save the day. Russia has an alternative to SWIFT called System for Transfer of Financial Messages (SPFS).
By banning Russian banks from SWIFT, Europe has effectively committed themselves to buy Russian energy through SPFS, using borrowed ROUBLES. The dollar is no longer in the loop. This is clearly the end of the US dollar as the world's reserve currency.
And what if China demands payments through SPFS? Or does a Ukraine style intervention into Taiwan. You can kiss your Intel and AMD processors goodbye.
This is what happens when you go up against a coalition of the smartest people in the world (Chinese) and the greatest natural resources (Russia). You will lose.
Putin is no fool. He did not invade the Ukraine expecting to lose.
