I just ran across an interesting fact recently about the invention of wireless networking devices that I was completely unaware of and never heard anyone mention before. It seems that the original device technology that makes present day wireless devices work was invented as a guidance system for navy torpedoes and was invented by the late actress Hedy Lamar and a man named George Antheil, who was a player piano ballet composer. They invented an 88 frequency radio transceiver that used a punched roll like a player piano to hop frequencies at random to avoid jamming. There are 88 keys on a piano.
